Elk & Embers

This place is amazing. A beautiful property with several cabin type units. They were so great with communication and treating us well. They have a market shack with great little treats and the rooms were stocked with snacks and beverages. Views were equal to all of this. Getting on and off the mountain may be intimidating for some so I would recommend eating in town early and coming back for a beautiful sunset and s’mores by the fire!

My wife, two sons (ages 14 and 12), and I took a 3-night trip to Elk & Embers over Labor Day weekend and absolutely loved it. We booked 2 cabins (Creekside and Crabtree) that are near each other, and they were both fantastic in their own way. Creekside is elegantly rustic and cozy with a private back porch. Crabtree is more spacious, a bit more luxurious, and has a great view off of the deck.||We hiked the property each day and enjoyed the various trails and the waterfall. (We tried to go on the Cataloochee Divide Trail to head toward Hemphill Bald, but we couldn't figure it out where to connect to it...not sure if it was user error on our part or an issue with the map?) Just got back from a quick weekend getaway here and already want to go back. We stayed in the Crabtree Cabin, which was the epitome of luxury and had incredible views of the mountains. The owners thought of every possible detail to make sure everyone's stay is incredible, from the Market Shed offerings, to the golf carts, to the breakfast/lunch deliveries...everything was impeccable. The level of communication leading up to our stay also added a great touch. We spent our first night hanging out on our cabin deck for hours and went into Downtown Waynesville for dinner at Chef's Table on Saturday night. When we return, we will definitely stay for at least one night longer than we did this time. We didn't want to leave. 5 stars all around!

There are no words to describe the true beauty of this place. The views are AMAZING! The houses are gorgeous and the staff and customer service is truly 5 stars. They have thought of every detail when building the houses and tents. They have thought of every detail when decorating and having everything you need everywhere you go on property. All the way down to having your own private golf cart to get around the property. We went for our anniversary but we will be coming back for more trips.

Had an amazing stay! We stayed for a last minute 2 night weekend getaway and we were amazed with the accomodations! Check in and check out was seamless, they provided all the info up front via text and everything was PERFECT! We were a little worried about dinner options, so we brought some snacks with us but they accommodated EVERYTHING! The breakfasts and lunches were delicious and more than we could eat in a single sitting, we ended up just finishing leftovers so we could enjoy more of the views and room! They provide some of their own snacks and drinks at their market shed so even if you get in late, there are always some good options. We will absolutely be back, it has now become our default "cabin in the mountains" getaway!
