Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Escondido Downtown

There was no hot water in the shower. It was warm at best. Having the $100 deposit charged separately on my CC and having to follow up the next morning to have it returned to my CC was inconvenient and something that I've never experienced before.

This place was such a relief after a long road trip. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and the owner was very nice! There’s a to go spot right next to it if you’re hungry and it was opened late! I’ve taken so many road trips and stayed at many last minute motels when I just can’t stay awake anymore. A lot of them are either a rip off or sketch. This place was safe, centrally located, close enough to freeways, comfortable, and clean.

Stayed here a couple times never had a problem. Got a room tonight, I checked in and went to the store came back to the room to lay down and the bed had a terrible smell of urine. I went to the front desk and let them know about the situation and the employee went up to the room with me to verify. In the end there were no more rooms available so I went with the refund. I paid $98 for the room and only got refunded $84 dollars they said they don’t refund taxes, robbery at its finest! If I buy something at a store and return it I GET FULL REFUND . Probably illegal to do what they did

In case if you book online whatever booking site the front desk requires a 100$ cash deposit prior to your check in I was very disappointed when my long term stay ended and went to check out I was told I would not get back my 100 cash deposit. I was told it was because I had sprayed body spray thought must be to cover up the smoking smell .I do smoke but went out to the designated smoking areas outside the room. I would not recommend staying at these hotel chains are least not the Escondido locations.Very dissatisfied.

Positive: Nothing Negative: Room smelled like cigarette smoke, microwave did not wash, bedding was dirty (I had to go to Walmart to get my own sheets), homeless people in parking lot, cops were there when we arrived, the first room I was given was already occupied.
