Econo Lodge Cortez near Mesa Verde

We were surprised to find how nice this hotel was at such a great price! The couple who run the hotel were so friendly and accommodating. We had a king room that had a full refrigerator,microwave and kitchen area. The beds were comfortable and rooms clean. We would recommend. The only complaint would be that the showers had no place to put shampoo and soap.

The breakfast was good and the location was easy to find, being close to a dog park for my fur babies the next morning. The room was also clean and free of bed bugs and other pests and all the lights etc worked great. Keep in mind it's an older facility with overly firm beds if you stay here, but a clean warm and decent place to stay.

The woman who checked us in was amazing. We were here for a funeral and with all the craziness I booked the wrong dates. She was able to update my reservation and get us a room. With that being said she gave us a corner room without a couch. Even though I booked a room with a couch. the reviews say the rooms are cozy and clean. For us that was a lie. The comforter had orange stains and the room was full of mold. The doors are not sealed well which lets a lot of cold air in and the heating in the room is not adequate. Pictures for proof. The reviews also talk about the breakfast options being large. There was only sausage at the hot bar everyday we were here (five days) one cereal choice and muffins.

I booked a two-week stay here for a construction crew specifically because the listing advertised a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator and an electric burner. Upon arrival, the room had neither. To make matters worse, the lights in the kitchenette area didn’t even work, and the walls are so thin you can hear every sound from neighboring bathrooms. When we tried to resolve this, the hotel became a ghost town. The main phone line goes unanswered at all hours. I have emailed the General Manager directly and received zero response. We contacted Choice Hotels Corporate (who opened a case due to the conditions), yet the hotel still refused a refund for the unused nights, citing "policy" despite the fact that they failed to provide the room type we actually paid for. We had traveled a lot and stayed in many around cortez this year. Many of the lower rates ones had uncleaned rooms. This place beats them impeccably. Super clean. Super friendly service. Very nice layout. No elevators but compared to others that are budgeted, this place has by far risen from ashes and shined beyond the hotel gods. Definitely going to stay here more on our trips..
