It is the only and best place to camp near the EAA. Fly-in. Almost all of the spots are along rows and grass. You pick your own spot in Nestle in amongst the thousands of other campers. Some of the spots are a long walk up to the EAA, air adventure entry. It rained a couple times on our stay and some of the 'roads' get a little muddy. I didn't see anyone getting stuck though. There are some areas with no generators, some with generators till 10:30. And some that allow generators to run all night. Otherwise there are no hookups. But they do have areas with fresh water and a dump station. And there is a camp store and and showers in a couple areas. Our area only had porta potties but those were cleaned out almost daily.
Arrived on Friday. Was having difficulty finding a place to park a 40' motor coach. Very helpful security officer asked if we would like the best spot around. We said yes, and he led us to a fantastic spot. We were about 1/4 mile from the runway. Perfect spot to watch the mass arrivals of several types of aircraft. Flat spot with a great view and a short walk to an entrance to EAA Airventure and tram stop. This was our view out the front of our coach.
Loved the show, the campground needs some tramms running around within them to the bus as we did a ton of walking to get to the buses and often it was quicker to walk the entire way to the grounds. Camp. Scholler needs to be more than an afterthought, sites need to be delineated for people before they come even if a small fee was involved as we came from out of country and had no idea what we would find once we got there. Maybe a staking fee for $25, I'd do that for sure.
Just like the chaos of a music festival of 40k people. Once you get thru the gate good luck folks! Find a spot live you can live with (yes homograph intended). No electricity available - unless you pay the extortion fee to keep someone else from buying it before you. But alas you're camping with fellow EAA flyers and nonflyers so the neighbors are great! Expect long lines at the triple express dump and fresh water fill every late afternoon and of course the last day.
Excellent camping spot! They had showers and flushable toilets! Given the weather insane amount of people there, everything was always clean and never crowded! You could see the air show from the camp site! Just a great experience overall!
