We have stayed at various properties in Stone Harbor and Avalon. We bike past the Dunes Motel all the time. When we decided to take a quick trip to the shore, we booked in for the first time. I wish I could give more stars. The rooms are nicely updated and the cleanest bathroom I have seen in a long time. With only a few blocks to the beach, there was zero sand in the room. Kudos to housekeeping! The room was extremely clean and welcoming. While there is no pool at this location, you can use the pool across the street at the Seaward. Plenty of room for our family of 4. The location is prime. We parked our car and walked to all restaurants and shopping. We locked our bikes in the rack. Outdoor shower and clothes line also available. Also, a deck to lounge on or eat meals. Great stay!

I would give this hotel negative stars in possible. We have had a room booked for months for a family vacation to start July 29th for a week. We got an e-mail on Monday (5 days before our trip) that their renovations were not completed and they did not have a room for us. The owner Northeast Associates has other hotels on the Island -- the Dunes and the Colonial. No alternative options offered, no credit-- no nothing just a half hearted sorry. These people are terrible business people and will ruin your family vacation. I would suggest to avoid all of their hotels since they cannot be trusted.

Adorable motel. The lady at check-in was wonderful. Super friendly & accommodating. Very welcoming. My pod room was clean & I like the paint colors & decor. I have no complaints about the size. It was clearly advertised as a very small room. I think it's just fine for two. I was anticipating smaller, so I was happily surprised. It's got an old fashioned tile bathroom to be expected at the shore. Perfect location. I'm guessing the problem was just my pod room. It smells terrible! Even my husband who barely has the sense of smell could smell it. I think it smells like musty ocean water, but I'm not sure. I didn't put anything in the small closet because it was worse in there. RM 103. If you have no sense of smell, you have no worries. If you can smell, its very unpleasant. The windows were o

My brother and I decided only a month out to have our two families meet up for a mini vacation in Stone Harbor. The only two available rooms we were able to find were at the Dunes Motel. I was a little concerned because I was wondering if there was a reason why this was the only hotel with availability, but I really wanted my family to experience the Jersey Shore. I am so glad we gave the Dunes a chance! We stayed in a double queen room with a kitchenette. The room, kitchen and bathroom were all very clean and were nicely decorated. This was a true beach motel and really added to the experience. We really enjoyed the roof top deck with tables and chairs- one night we ordered out from Quahogs and ate on the deck. It is a short, easy walk to the beach, and we were allowed to use the

We stayed in one of the pod rooms. It is great for 2 people. Not a lot of room but thats okay because we don't spend much time in the room anyway. The room is clean - outdated to be sure but clean. My big gripe is the smell. It smelled like ammonia. When we were in the room we would open windows at night to try to alleviate the smell. The carpet feels almost wet. I think it is a combination of the air conditioner (which sounds like a jet engine) and the carpet. I am not sure I could stay there again (this was our 3rd year in row) which is a shame because it is convenient to everything. I am almost convinced it is the air conditioner that smells because when we turned it off the smell would almost go away. Maybe they should clean/replace filters or the whole unit!
