Desert Inn

Great little motel in Van Horn. Keep in mind it is a ~$60/night motel, so it ain't the Ritz Carlton, but everything is clean, everything works (heater, fridge, microwave, TV has a hundred+ channels), and the owners and staff are very kind. It is located next to a tasty and modestly priced Mexican spot. I got holed up here for 3 nights during the ice storm and was more than happy to have it. Fun fact: my room had 22 outlets, I counted

this place is older so keep that in mind. it is quiet, clean and the owners and staff are soo accommodating and nice. thats what you get with a small place like this. very much worth the price. highly recommend. if retro is your thing, then this is the place.

When travelling, I prefer to stay at old "motor lodges". Although it has been recently remodeled and refurbished, the Desert Inn qualifies! The room is .comfortable, clean, and definitely updated from the motor lodge days.||THE PRICE IS RIDICUOUSLY LOW for what you get!||The owner is very personable. After realizing that I was interested in the history, he explained and showed me a number of very interesting things. He bought the property in 1988.||The original motor lodge was built in 1947. It was a number of separate building, which through the years, were joined together in the L shape of its current configuration. Positive: Quaint, comfortable little motel built before there were interstate highways. Great value. Nice little flower gardens. WiFi, mini fridge and microwave. Negative: Small TV with tinny speakers. Loud A/C. Railroad track nearby.

Convenient location in Van Horn. Friendly office staff, clean room with comfortable bed and a great rate. I like staying at mom & pop motels like this. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when in the area.
