Days Inn by Wyndham Downtown Aiken

First of all, it is not a Days Inn. It has a completely different name, so when Google Maps take you to a random place, you are in the right place. The shower pressure was really good. The towels and linens were clean. Cigarette smoke from outside blows out of the vents in the bathroom and the main air conditioner. No hair dryers were available on the premises, and there was no ironing board in the room.

Came back to room and everything we had out, they put in our suitcases and pulled curtain open but didn't make the bed or clean with our stuff visible. When asked at the desk, he said that new people must have thought we had left and packed our stuff. Checked back in the morning to try and decipher what happened, and it was the same person we had already talked to and stated it was someone else. Too hard to make their timeliness to get a washcloth or towel.

While the rooms can be dirty at times, I cannot say enough good things about the manager. He helped me out when I was in a rough situation and was there for me when I needed it. A truly good man. The good location within walking distance from downtown Aiken and grocery stores made it a comfortable place for me to live for 3 months while looking for my own place.

When I arrived at the hotel the check-in was easy, and the room I requested as NON SMOKING had clearly been smoked in. There was only 1 small lamp near the armchair, with no overhead light, and no bedside light, which kept the room quite dark. The bathroom was filthy including the walls and the tub. The shower did not work properly and although I could turn the faucet to the shower, water still poured out of the faucet, which filled up the tub as I showered. They only provided two very thin, grungy towels, and the key card reader was dodgy at best.

It was cheap and available. Towels were dirty. Floor was dirty. Nice people. I found roaches (bugs not weed) in the bathroom. The killer was the dead roach we found smashed into the bottom of our bed sheet in the morning. I don't expect a lot for $75 But the bug thing..can't handle it. Get what ya pay for. :/
