This campground is such a gem! The grounds are very well maintained, and every tent site comes with its own fire pit and picnic table—some even have cozy porch swings, which is such a nice touch. There’s a good mix of options: some tent sites you park and hike up to, while others you can back right into (though those are a bit closer together). The great thing is that it doesn’t usually get overly crowded, so if you’re tent camping you can often find yourself a site with a couple of spots of space between you and other campers, which makes it feel peaceful and private. The campground itself is really nice to walk around and explore. The restrooms are separated for men and women, with free showers inside that are clean, well kept, and surprisingly good on water pressure. I felt very safe a
Our new favorite spot in the Black Hills. This was our 2nd visit (We stayed in Cabin 6 this time). Cabin was spacious with plenty of room for 5 of us, each having our own bed! Love the spacing between cabins, as it gives you plenty of your own space. Staff is always friendly and ready to assist. Not your typical "family" campground, as there is no pool, playground, etc. However our kids (6 & 12) had no issues keeping busy and making up their own games. We will be back!
We stayed in a cabin #7. It was great! Perfect for our needs. Check in was very smooth. Bath house was always clean. Very quiet at night. Very large, well lit sign in front so you know where to turn in. The only thing we wished was that the cabin had screens on the windows so we could leave them open at night. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a tent site so not sure what the cabins are like. There's a small kitchen with a sink and microwave for everyone at the campground to use. Good location, reasonable rates. The owner was very sweet. We would definitely stay here again!
We were traveling from NE to SD at the end of June with my family of 6 and a 32 foot camper in tow! I had booked this campsite months in advance and was very excited to stay there! When we pulled into Custer the tire on our camper flew off, so I had to limp it to a near by side street. We were 6 minutes away from the campsite and were already getting into town a few hours later than anticipated. I called the campground to let them know the situation. The lady one the phone was so sweet and was trying to walk me through this stressful situation. Especially since I had no idea just how bad the damage to our camper ended up being. She put the campground owner on the phone and he tried to give me some ideas, then he decided he was just going to come to us and see how he can help get the camper
