Courtyard by Marriott Oakland Airport

I booked and paid extra for a room with a balcony, pool view, and a sofa bed. None of these were provided. Upon check-in, I was assigned room 164 on the first floor — no pool view, no balcony, and no sofa bed. The sofa bed advertised in the room description turned out to be nothing more than a small regular sofa, which is entirely misleading for anyone traveling with extra guests who need sleeping space. This is not about minor inconveniences — these were paid-for features that were simply not honored. If a hotel advertises specific room amenities and charges a premium for them, guests have every right to expect exactly what they booked.

I was disappointed in this hotel. The staff was sometimes helpful and sometimes not. The airport shuttle is actually Lyft during primary airport hours. It worked when I needed it, but a taxi from the airport was $25 for a 5 minute ride when Lyft was not an option--6 minutes late. The interior was consistent with the Courtyard brand. My room was nice, spacious, and clean. The area around this hotel isn't the best to go out and walking a half mile to McDonald's or Popeyes way down the street. I've seen similar hotels at this airport and near SFO $100+ more a night. I would stay here again with that price differential.

I usually get the cheapest rooms, but it's pretty good. Pretty comfortable beds. The area is ok, but it was dangerous in the past. Crime is down in the area, but it might just be because of winter. It's close to all public transportation and close to many restaurants. Rideshare Driver's are always in the area also.

Positive: They acknowledged my service animal for my daughter. Greeted him by name. Gave him his own keycard. With treats. Thank you everyone. Housekeepers all the way to the GM. We appreciate you. Negative: The only thing I did not like was at night some homeless people would walk through the premises due to unlocked gate in the back. Or hide behind the bushes to charge their phones. Security was appreciated.

It was a very pleasant experience. Easy check in. Just take note that this hotel only accepts certain credit card and debit cards. No tap pay (apple or goggle pay). Call to verify before you check in. They don't offer complimentary breakfast. There is a cage where you can order though. The bed was very comfortable, the room we had was a king bed with sofa bed, refrigerator but no microwave. It was quiet and very clean hotel. Staff were very nice and accomodating. This property is conveniently located near Oakland arena. Overall, our experience was delightful.
