Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Doswell (Kings Dominion), VA

The hotel is located next to a train track, very noisy when a train passing, literally like you sitting next to it. The front desk just gave us a room facing the track even though they had a lot of rooms on the other side unoccupied. We had to change room, but the front desk woman kept asking us if we've touched the bed or they could not change rooms for us. The gym was closed with broken mirror, so we could not use gym for the entire stay, but they charged us the full price as if everything was working. Funny thing's they kept sending me text messages checking if I was doing okay. I asked them if they could get me access to a gym next door (they have several hotels next door), they just sent me a generic robotic reply. No follow-up at all until I checked out.

How unfortunate and disgusting to walk into a room with filthy bedding - this was after a 9 hr drive. Thankfully we asked to check the room out before we moved our stuff in because that would have been so much more difficult to handle. We were offered another room but first impressions last and we were not impressed. Even though it is non-smoking, the entire property smelled of cigarettes. I gave it a two because breakfast was available, adequate options were provided, and the hostess did what she could to make the experience good.

When we arrived the door to the adjoining room would not lock, the front desk clerk told us the maintenance person had already left for the day, but did come by and check it and put the adjoining room on hold so we wouldn't have to worry. It was somewhat fixed at least to lock by the next evening. There was mold growing in the shower and we had to go down and get towels and use hand towels for washcloths. It was noted that housekeeping was available on request, we did not request it and on day 2 when we came back our stuff had been moved to make the bed, our towels that we planned to reuse were gone and we had to yet again go get more because there were no clean linens to replace them.

I actually wrote a review and they deleted it! This hotel is very deceiving and misleading! First of all, we arrived early and I wasn’t able to check in which was fine. A young lady was working the desk, I asked since I couldn’t check in early, could she please make sure that my rooms were side by side because I had kids with me( a church youth group). She states she couldn’t promise because the rooms were first come first serve at 4pm. I then asked if she could at least put us away from the train tracks in the back so the kids wouldn’t be disturbed. That wasn’t possible either. Well, we walked to Kings dominion and was back at approximately 3:45om. The parking lot was empty and I was sure we got there in time to honor my request because no one was there. I would have to say this hotel is way better than the reviews I've read. My room was clean. The breakfast was okay. No fruit and only one yogurt option. About 2 tables spoons of yogurt in each cup. No milk other than what was in a pitcher. Only apple juice or lemonade was offered other than coffee and tea. The usual waffle, cereal eggs, sausage , and bread options.. nothing healthy really.
