Compare Inn & Suites

Like something out of a horror movie. Under no circumstances should anyone ever rent a room from this establishment, unless of course you are looking to score meth or trying to scare the hell out of your 'date'. There is no front desk, just a video monitor with the probably one of the most unprofessional, unsanitary human beings I have ever come encounter with. I explained that I wanted to see the room before I unpacked my family and committed to the room for the night and the attendant refused to allow me to see it. She said that she would be charging me regardless whether I wanted the room or not. Broken glass, cigarette butts, trash, beer cans and empty liquor bottles were everywhere. We started off trying to get a room at the Magnuson Hotel. We were told at the Magnuson that we should actually go to the compare in since they own it also. The room there was cheaper so we went for it. Very weird situation as it is a hotel that is totally unstaffed. Arriving at our hotel we discovered three separate buildings none of which were labeled . You have to enter one building and speak to an attendant through a Skype and another building to even get any questions answered. The entire parking lot was very dimly lit and they were odd characters hanging out in the shadows under a tree with a grill as if they live there. I gave this motel a terrible rating because that was the worse option available, it should include horribly disgusting. If at all possible do not stay here. If you have to drive 100 miles to avoid it do so. We only stayed here because we were in town for the Greenbrier Classic and nothing else was available. We had reservations at the Best Western, who also owns this property, but they gave our room away at 6:00 (that's a whole other story) and suggested we stay here. No one was available on site you had to deal with someone by a computer screen. The halls smell and the carpet is terribly stained. Hotel is old and very dated. No front desk, has a virtual check-in. Witnessed locals drive over and enter through a broken back door to use Laundry facilities. Locals also had a birthday party at pool, drinking involved! No security. Rooms are clean and they had a delightful brother and sister who did their best to keep the rooms neat and tidy. Furniture was very dated and sofa had stain. Overall the room was very large and clean, except for carpet stains and sofa stains, just very old furnishings. Also had an issue with spiders in bathroom, but not s big deal. However, I would not recommend this establishment.

I would barely give this place a one star. It is a total joke. There are 3 hotels owned by the same person. Each one is less than a one star. This hotel has really gone downhill in the past 5 years. The only reason we stayed there was because of the flooding in Covington and could not make it up RT 18 to our lodge due to closure. Upon check-in, you have to go to another hotel to pick up your key. When you check-out, you have to go back to the other hotel to pick up your receipt. Cleanliness is not in their Mission Statement. My feet were black from walking across the carpet until I could put my socks and shoes on. The free breakfast that was offered was less than adequate. How hard is it to mess up breakfast.
