Comfort Suites Port Wentworth - Savannah North

Generally I like staying at Choice hotels since I am a member and like to get points towards future stays. But if I am in the Savannah GA area again in the future, I'm not sure that I would stay at this property again. The staff was nice, but this stay had too many issues. The pool-- out of order. It was shut down by the local health dept. The staff said it has been closed for about 3 weeks and would not be opened before our stay ended (did not know when it would be opened again). Not the best Comfort Inn I've stayed in. Stayed in rm #228 and found a couple of insects in the room and on sofa bed. I understand it's winter and critters will look for warm places like us, but we were on the 2nd floor fumigation should take care of that. The sink I n the room was also very slow to drain. Staff was great and friendly. The location is great right off I-95.

The room was good. We like that we can bring our dog. The breakfast was below standards. We realize it was Christmas; however, there was nothing but biscuits and gravy unless you wanted a waffle. There were some muffins but not many. It was definitely not what is usually available.

This is NOT a terrible hotel but could be really great with good management. Their front entrance trash over flowing out of every garbage can . Liter everywhere. The suites are nice size and ours was clean . The AC noise though goes on all night and its loud . This hotel has 3 floors . Only the 2nd floor had a ice machine that worked . Breakfast , one elderly lady working this whole area. They do have waffles , no peanut butter, did have syrup and biscuits but no gravy and did have scrambled eggs if they refill them . No OJ, did have apple juice and milk. Indoor pool was functional if you wanted to use . For a quick over night stay not horrible but there are a lot of hotels including a Marriott close by.

It was our second time and a fine stay, no complaints. It was nice to have a short drive the second day on our trip to Orlando. But it isn't likely we will come back to Port Wentworth, because it is too long a drive the first day from our home - 11 hours, not including stops and not accounting for traffic especially around Wash DC and Richmond. I was very sleepy behind the wheel and that was risky. We will look for a hotel that is 8-9 hours drive from our home, even if it makes the second day longer. But some of those typical stops along I-95 seem risky places to stay (we once heard gunshots outside our hotel in SC), or the hotels are sorely in need of an update. We have walked out of a hotel upon arriving more than once because of sour smells or stench from smoking. I understand smoking i
