Comfort Inn & Suites Cedar Rapids North - Collins Road

I stayed here on Tuesday 11/4/2025 with my Mom while traveling. We arrived very late at night. The parking lot is on the smaller side, and we got the last spot. Check in went smoothly. The room was decent. The rooms definitely have some wear, but nothing that affected function. Cleanliness was decent, but could have been a little better. My Mom was awoken around 4:30 AM by a water noise, presumably from a shower above us. The breakfast was pretty standard for a Comfort Inn, which is pretty decent. They had sausage, eggs, waffles, juice, coffee, yogurt and a smaller selection of cereals. A sign indicated there were additional breakfast options during the weekends, but I cannot comment on them. It's always nice and clean. And the employees are nice. But I want to tell you about the young man that work Christmas Eve at your Cedar Rapids hotel. I believe his name was Jacob. Very very nice and very helpful. We enjoyed talking to him about our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day plans. He had a very genuine smile it was so friendly. You're lucky to have an employee like him.

The hotel is convenient to several major roads on the North side of the city, but it is in a somewhat odd commercial/industrial location. The public areas and our room were pleasant enough for a mid-price hotel. There is no routine maid service in the rooms - only upon request. The breakfast was standard Choice Hotels. At check-in there was a great deal of confusion - reportedly due to a "computer system problem". They could access our reservation but had no idea which rooms in their hotel were occupied or clean for new guests. The owner/manager tried to sort this out and offered us an "upgrade", but when escorting us to that room found it was still not clean. It took a maid to let us know which room we could have, and then the manager headed off to procure a key for this "standard" room

The Comfort Inn was pretty pricey for what you get. The front desk clerk was doing their best—it was a busy night. The outside and hallways looked like they’d been updated in the last couple of years, but the pool area was kind of run down. The room itself wasn’t very clean. The bathtub floor was dirty, the soap dispensers were missing, and one of the chairs had pet fur on it. The TV was unplugged when we got there, and when I moved the cabinet to plug it in, there was a Tootsie Roll, dirt, and more pet fur behind it. The beds at least seemed clean, and we didn’t see any bugs or anything like that. We only stayed here because there was an event in town and everything else was booked. Probably wouldn’t stay again unless I had no other choice.

My daughters and I stayed at this hotel 3 days to be together for Christmas while my baby is in the nicu, when we got there the floor was stained black, we made sure to clean the room and leave all garbage in a garbage bag to make cleaning up easier for house keeping and two days after checking out the hotel was charged $150 for cleaning fees when we left the hotel room clean and all garbage together. The manager continued to laugh and say he would not refund the money as they had to take out the garbage bag, we was there theee days of course there was going to be garbage
