Comfort Inn & Suites

I stayed at this Comfort Inn & Suites in Carbondale for an extended period and experienced a serious rodent infestation. I personally recorded mice entering my room through the bathroom, running behind furniture, and traveling between rooms and the hallway—clearly not an isolated issue. Staff response was dismissive and unprofessional. I was laughed at, advised to use traps in an occupied room, and then told to move only two doors away after staff themselves saw mice moving between rooms. Housekeeping requests were ignored throughout my stay, and I had to clean my own room using equipment (mop and vacuum) from the front desk. The hotel was nice and the room was clean with comfortable beds. What I didn't like was the false advertising. The pictures online for this hotel showed a hot tub. There is not a hot tub there, as it must have been filled in. The signs for the hot tub rules are still on the wall. There are many other hotels we would have booked besides this location, but we were excited about the hot tub. You really need to take those pictures down and update. When we asked the gentleman at reception, he didn't even know those pictures were still online.

OMG... This place is a dump and thats putting it mildly! The pool was out of order, there is no hot tub even though it shows that there is, mold in the refrigerator, spackle on the walls, cockroaches in the rooms (or at least in my room), no game room with slot machines as in the website. Roomservices would not change my bedding half way through my stay and i was there for a week. Worst stay ever!!

The staff seemed polite. The location is okay - 10 minute drive from SIU and downtown Carbondale. Right next to Crab Orchard Lake, and Culver's is a parking lot away. The bathroom vent actually works well! That isn't normally a thing at any hotels we've stayed at. However - The parking lot had animal poop on it. The dumpster had stacks of stained mattresses lying between it and the parking lot. The inside of the building smelled like skunk and something else incredibly sour. Obviously IL is a cannabis-friendly state, and I have no problem with that. It is and has been illegal for decades to smoke indoors at hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. The whole building smelled like this, and the stairwells are even worse. Our room door did not lock. We could push it open. Freakishly scary

This was by far the nastiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The smell throughout the building was awful, and the rooms looked nothing like the pictures online. The first room I was given had a terrible odor, visible holes in the wall, and made my skin itch. The second room smelled a little better, but it was still very dirty — the sheets were stained and clearly not clean. If someone else hadn’t paid for the room, I would’ve never stayed here, especially since it was already very late when we arrived. The breakfast was also extremely limited. This place definitely needs new management and a serious deep cleaning.
