Columbine Inn & Suites

Positive: Great location close to skiing and all the hiking. Spacious room with strong shower and good bed. Negative: Furniture is a bit dated and not the most comfortable, but manageable. Also, breakfast is very basic, so don't expect any extras like yogurt or eggs. It's just toast, cereal, oatmeal and coffee.

I recently stayed at this spot on a short ski trip. I was horrified to see how during the complementary breakfast every single utensil used, plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork, spoon etc was all just single use plastics. The lack of environmental consciousness to utilize single use plastics for a breakfast service every single day instead of using proper bowls plates etc is astounding. This should be illegal.

Location: On the north end of town. Dominos and a gas station are nearby. The historic town is within a few miles driving distance.||Hotel: Nice lobby with new hardwood floors and a fireplace. No coffee available until 6:30 when the breakfast opens. It is spartan with nothing much more than cold cereal. No yogurt. No business center, no fitness center. Internet speed is good at 59.55 Mbps.||Room: We had a king suite. The room was large. The small TV and large room were incompatible with watching TV in bed. No coffee maker. No microwave. No hot water. The mattress was on the soft side but OK.||Staff: Helpful if asked but gave the feeling they would rather be somewhere else. No greeting/acknowledgment when entering or leaving after check-in.

Positive: The room was absolutely perfect! The log furniture looked brand new! The coffee was also a favorite first thing in the morning. Negative: Could have softer pillows. Also, one person at the front desk needs to work on her personality a bit. She was not the most friendly individual. Everyone else was amazing.

Great value. Safe for travelers. Friendly Team. Leadville rustic-ness. Could use some updated comforters/furniture ... don't turn it into a chain-like room - keep it Leadville ... just some updates.
