Old Tale Inn

Motel 6 looks like a luxury hotel compared to Old Tail Inn. Old Tail Inn charges $200 to $400 for a stay that should never be over $50. Some of the lights and outlets work some don’t. Doesn’t appear any maintenance has been done in years. No one is on site. They say they will mail you a code to get into your room but they didn’t. There’s a number to call if you need something. They don’t clean rooms during your stay but there are 2 towels in the room. There is no air conditioning and rooms open up into a hot hall. Our room was near 80 degrees until early morning. While their pictures look nice and show a refrigerator in the room there is no refrigerator in the room and ice is not available. They state they have a hot tub and they do but it lacks water. This was the only place left to stay when we was in Leadville, at over $250 a night I expected a lot more than we got. The only positive things I can say are the room was clean and WiFi was good. The negative, the room was small one queen bed, the kitchen was updated but cabinet doors were falling apart. The bathroom was still in the 80s. The fridge you had to rearrange to get to the freezer, and the outside lights were so bright that the cheap curtains didn’t help keep the light out. This was the most I have ever paid for a room in all my vacations. I stayed in a better room in Durango for 2 nights cheaper and with a breakfast than this place. Next time I can’t find a room in Leadville I will sleep in the car.

We chose this place for the hot tub and it was non-functional with no notice. Also the bathroom had no soap or conditioner and the shower head was trash. Shower heads on Amazon are $12 it’s not that hard. Comfy bed though I must say.

Room was very clean. Within walking distance to shops. Good little place for a weekend getaway.

Absolutely horrid customer service and booking arrangements. Called to see if they could accomodate me checking in at midnight and they said sure, but they wouldn't be able to gurantee the room if I booked through Expedia at $268 a night. They said they could guarantee the room if I booked directly through them at $468 rate a night. Just to summarize - if I booked direct through expedia at a NON-REFUNDABLE rate, once I get to the hotel they could deny me a room. Absolutely insane business model - they are pressuring people to book at higher rates directly through them or they don't gurantee a room, even if the rate you pay at a third party is non-refundable. Why even collaborate with expedia then?
