Cliff Dweller Hotel on Lake Superior

I was surprised when I opened the door to see such a nice bright room! We haven't been to the Cliff Dweller for awhile so it was great to see that it had been renovated. We were happy with the comfortable mattress, the "up north" feel of the room, and our beautiful view of Lake Superior! The breakfast nook was clean and sufficient for our needs. The staff was nice and always helpful. There are a couple reasons I didn't give the room 5 stars. Behind the nightstand (in between the beds) was a t-shirt on the carpet someone forgot, a book of matches and a pop-top from an aluminum can. We also picked up 3 crinkled up candy wrappers. This won't keep us from returning, but hopefully the eyes that vacuum will notice the little details!

The room was very clean when we arrived. The view of Lake Superior is literally right outside of the sliding glass balcony door that has a small table and two chairs. The water that came from the tap in the room tasted very good (I drink lots of water and can get a little picky). The front desk staff are friendly and do all they can to make your stay the best it can be. There is a small breakfast selection available that starts at 8 a.m. which is a bit later than the standard chain hotels. It included: muffins, instant oatmeal packets, cereal & milk, muffins, and clementines along with coffee, hot apple cider, and tea. If you are on the ground floor, you will hear the occupants above you when they walk - so sound dampening is not as good as other lodging options in the area. The shower hea

This is great cozy place for a short stay! sime of our family skiied at Lutsen , others hiked at Cascade River State park & ventured to Grand Marais, only a 25 min drive! Been here twice in the winter and would love to stay in warmer seasons with that amazing view on the balcony! The lounge was cozy and bright and had just the right amount for a quick morning snack and coffee!

Spent three nights at the cliff dweller while in town to ski at lutsen. The lobby was clean and had a nice sitting area with a gorgeous view of the lake. Breakfast was light but nice to have. There was a fake fireplace with some games that we played one night. The woman who managed the hotel was extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable. Patios had a gorgeous view but aren’t at all private. The bathrooms could use some work and our shower didn’t get hot, so that was really the only downside but they were going to fix it that day and my sisters shower got extremely hot so the issue was limited to our room luckily.
