Church Hill Inn

As a home base for Sister Bay and the surrounding area, the Church Hill Inn is perfectly located, with downtown just a few minutes' walk down the steep hill, a delightful brewery (Peach Barn) across the road, and lots of attractions within short driving distance. It's a quiet, somewhat secluded, tidy property, reasonably priced, with ample off-street parking, but sadly, its decor and furnishings are quite tired, and much of the inn is in need of a refresh. From the dark basement whirlpool and fitness rooms to our oversized English room on the second floor, there is a sense of weariness to the place, like the light/life has gone out. As for our room specifically, bed was comfortable, but loose tiles kept popping from the bathroom floor, lighting was dim and vanity space sparce, and furnishi

i haven’t personally stayed but my uncle did. my uncle is in the early stages of alzheimer’s and he got lost driving for a whole day wouldn’t stop driving north and ended up at the lake in sister bay and drove in circles. the state trooper got him to this Inn and the owners are a saving grace. they fed him and took care of him until my family could come get him. they made sure he didn’t get back in his car. This is the kind of place you want to stay. we’re beyond grateful 🙏

Beautifully decorated rooms, each a different style, elegance always a factor. Wonderful areas to sit, read, chat with friends like 1 of the 4 fireplaces with beautiful seating or the serve yourself bar area with tea & coffee or, for purchase, wines, beers, even locally made candies. An outside area with a fountain surrounded by greenery. Swimming pool area was made even better when a very tall, solid fence/wall went up blocking the wind so even a sunny 65° day is quite warm poolside. The included hot breakfast has quite a variety with hot entree and freshly baked pastry at the core. Daily staples such as scrambled eggs, bagels, cereal, & toast. We’ve been coming here on and off for 30+ years, so obviously we like it. There have been some nice improvements since our last visit. It is cozy and comfortable and in a good location, walking distance to downtown Sister Bay. It has lots of small public places to sit and chill or to play games, and the honor bar is quite nice with a good selection of beers and snacks; the wines are better by the bottle than by the glass. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice sitting area and a balcony – very clean. The air conditioning unit is complicated and hard to figure out. Counter space for toiletries in the bathroom is somewhat limited and there’s a severe lack of places for towels – just one towel bar and one hook – not nearly enough, especially if you want us to reuse the towels. Wonderful weekend at Churchill Inn! Smaller hotel with the feeling of home. They do a breakfast that is amazing. They have several options and a hot dish daily...potato pancakes were our favorite. The owners work on site and take pride in the themed rooms that are CLEAN. Support staff greeted us and were friendly. The gal waiting tables was super sweet. What impressed me most is that we had a concern during our stay....nothing that was the fault of the Inn, but they made it RIGHT...not just oh sorry. We have stayed before and we will stay again.
