Chief Motel

Booked a last minute motorcycle trip to the 85th Sturgis Rally. Was able to get a room at the Chief Motel in Custer. Staff/Owners are extremely accommodating and friendly. Loved that they had a place set up for folks to wash their motorcycles. Room was clean and comfortable. Looked like a nice pool area though I didn't use it. Loved the porch and chairs outside each room to hang out in the early evening. In walking distance to restaurants and stores. This hotel was probably built in the 50's or 60's so it brought backed nostalgic memories n regards to family trips and places we stayed in the 1960's and 1970's when I was a child. Would stay here again if in the area.

What a lovely little hotel close to all the attractions. Super clean and fresh rooms. Beds are comfy and the softest sheets Ive ever slept on in a hotel. The owner is so friendly and helpful. If we are ever in Custer again we will be staying here. Thank you for a wonderful experience. My husband said "Do they put sugar in the towns water? Everyone in town are so sweet".

Positive: Quiet motel, budget friendly, biker friendly and family friendly. The hotel is in a great location to walk to local food and shopping. It is also in a great central location to use as you plan your day trips. Negative: ""

This motel may not look like much, but it is worth the stay! We arrived after office hours and our key was waiting, though we had called ahead and reserved. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The decor might not be to everyone's taste, but still fine. Within walking distance was a great coffee shop and there was a brewery RIGHT NEXT DOOR! There was a large indoor pool, which we didn't use, but which looked well maintained.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Comfortable, accommodating, all the things. But best of all, these people care. We had a few family emergencies while staying and they were so considerate. Kudos to the housekeeper we talked to who was so kind and also of high ethics. And just thank you so so much to the owner. And your sweet puppy.
