Candlewood Suites Sioux City - Southern Hills by IHG

This will be my go to hotel when in Sioux City. It's a great value ( I am not a breakfast person so no free breakfast doesn't bother me). Our room was clean,spacious,had a large desk for working and a kitchenette. Also it is pet friendly. Friendly staff, especially the guy who checked us in late evening. Conveniently located. Comfortable bed. There is a pantry area to purchase convenience items and snacks and breakfast items. Also free coffee any time.

Positive: We've chosen this hotel 9 times out of 10 whenever we are in the area for an extended stay because we like the setup of the King 1 bedroom with the kitchen. Negative: This was weird, but there was a Hispanic guy in the lobby of the hotel EVERY DAY that we were there. He was either sitting in the chair by the bookcase or outside smoking by the entryway, and always on his phone.

I looked at 4 hotels in the area just pulling into town at 9:30 pm, I just wanted to get a quick room for sleep and after checking the Quality Inn after two others they said they wanted $119 + Tax for their rooms which were at the $50 level! I said no way and went to Candlewood where I thought I would spend a LOT more, I paid $124! It was 4 stars more than the other for $5 more! I was so impressed with the layout and amenities of the room! My back was killing me, so drew a bath and to my surprise I could watch a movie while bathing as they designed the room to allow full view of the HUGE TV in the corner of the room angled perfectly to the bath, to boot the LG TV had a BLURAY player underneath the TV to play movies you may have brought with you, or a music CD. I LOVED my room, super comfy bed - I slept SO good, room stocked with all the necessities and then some, Dove bath products - super happy with my stay and the value. The property is a little dated but it didn’t affect my score because everything else was so great. Evening and morning staff were both extremely nice and accommodating.

Been staying at the Holiday Inn Express IHG hotels and thought I'd try candlewood. It's really different than a set up more for a longer-term stays. Love that they had a free laundry, also that they had a store which was based on the honor system! Staff was professional and friendly. The hotel in Rome had cooking facilities a kitchenette and a loan area for extra cooking utensils like an air fryer. Very cool if you're staying for 3 or 4 days
