Caddo Lake Lodge

Upon arrival we were greeted with a dead animal smell and swarm of flies. Apparently the trash had not been taken out from the trash area outside which was right in front of the Caboose where we were staying. We brought our boat. No parking for that. We had to go pass our cabin to turn around come back, pass our cabin and then back into a small parking spot to park the boat. This I didn't ask owners before booking. So be aware, if you bringing boat this is not the place for you. It's difficult parking. Especially if the lodge is rented out as well because you share parking space. This is a old train caboose with a double wide trailer next to it for an option to rent as well. It is somewhat waterfront. However there are 56 super steep steps to the pier. We stayed at the"Mallard House". No ducks but a small flock of chickens with a roster that likes to wake you at 5 am. Pictures posted DO NOT show the highway on one side of the cabin and the owners house on the other side. That cabin is on the owners front lawn. While it was clean the overuse of fragrances left us gasping. Even the sheets and towels were perfumed. The steps need to be replaced and the outdoor lighting did not work. The rocks added to the walkway were loose and dangerous. Pictures below show the actual view from the porch.

Loved our stay, the house was very clean and comfortable.. cool air covered auto parking. Keep in mind if you take your boat, there are 65 steps on these stairs down to the dock.

Beautiful place on the river with a gorgeous view! Had a wonderful time visiting with family with plenty of room for all of us. Well furnished with everything you need for your stay!

This was a perfect place to just sit and get back to nature. Access to canoe and kayaks was a bonus. We can't wait to visit again, next time it will be for longer and in cooler weather. The website doesn't do this place justice, it was super clean and well cared for. The deck was huge and secure for the kids.
