Budget Inn

As the name implies, they don't have hot breakfast or room service or paint on the walls in the bathroom, but the rooms were clean, the water hot and the bed comfy, what more can you ask for for $60 bucks a night? There's 947 things that could have been better, but if you're in this town you better keep your expectations in check anyway. I'll definitely stay here again AND I'll go in my bare feet, not like some of these wussies that left reviews, go spend 3 times as much at the other hotels in town! #supportsmallbusiness

Sketchy as hail. Decided after 2 hours not to stay there. The owner unlocked the office door in their bare feet. Put us in a room next to someone who was on the sidewalk sitting in front of their rm smoking. Something they did several times in my 2 hours, and the door fit loosely enough for me to smell their smoke. Not enjoyable at all. Was quoted one total. Had a 2nd that I signed for, and bank statement showing an additional $20.

This is to me the ideal family-owned travellers' motel, since this family took it over 7 years ago.||It's very simple; restored older motel with pink bathroom tiles ! Each room has fridge and microwave, HBO, and now Wi-fi also. Beds comfortable. Very clean. The owners' family gives it a warm feeling. Smell of curries wafting around the office, if you like that sort of thing. If you want a single at $29 a night, call ahead and reserve, as these sell out as soon as evening sets in. All of Van Horn has trains passing close by every 2 hours or so during the night, so don't be surprised. Great place to stay if you are planning to go north to Guadalupe Mountains National Park or Carlsbad Caverns, or south to Big Bend. The road from Van Horn to Guadalupe Mountains is spectacular.

I agree 100% with the two previous reviews. I am a college student moving from Houston to LA with only what I could pack in my car. I was very apprehensive about spending the night anywhere, but as soon as I pulled into the parking lot I was greeted with a smile and felt very welcome. I can't stress how great the price is!!!! I've staid at hotels/motels/inns before and this place is by far the best for the money. Don't waste your time looking for anywhere else to stay, this place is it!!!!

If you are looking for no frills quiet sleep this is the place. Its possible that there may be other places cheaper in Van Horn ($70)but I like the old school route 66 look and feel. Beds were good pillows ok. Owners very friendly and talkative. Only drawback, no ice. I can live that versus being at a big chain with running and screaming kids at all hours. Dont let looks deceive.
