Budget Inn

We pulled up to the most depressing site, a dilapidated motel that should have been torn down years ago. My bf went to get the key, etc. in the office, which took forever. There|were ashtrays on the outdoor tables in front of the rooms. He had to negotiate for a non-smoking room as I am allergic. Somehow he wound up being ripped off in the end, having booked a double bed and we wound up with that and a twin we didn’t need.|The room was musty and moldy. Obviously, you could hear everyone arriving through the walls and the traffic. |The bed went uphill, which was hell for my back and shoulder. I wasn’t able to breathe in there. We had to make a late stop due to a long trip, and this was all we found near us. We walk in and see the walls and floors are filthy. A pin was left on the floor and went through my foot. The bathroom sink cupboard was FILLED with mold. There was dead bugs everywhere. Windows wide open. You could tell they were trying to air it out from mildew. Beds were cardboard. You could feel the springs. Highly recommend going anywhere else.

This dump doesn’t deserve any stars! Nothing in the kitchenette in either of our 2 rooms worked, the faucet ( no running water), the refrigerator that was rusted inside, the microwave that lit up but didn’t work, the half used toilet paper on back of toilet that appeared to have feces on it, used shampoo and soap in shower, the 1960’s mattresses that had old toppers on them, you could feel all the springs! The rooms didn’t get warm until it was time to leave. Totally disgusting!!!

This particular area of New York is wonderful if you are livestock. If you are a human being, it is an existential hellhole. Seeking relatively inexpensive lodging within 30 minutes of Cooperstown, we booked a room (non refundable) for two nights... It was $106 per night, so we weren't expecting the Waldorf, obviously. Still, this was quite something. To describe the odor in our room as "musty" would be like describing Mount Everest as "tall". The door closed but left a large gap at the top (badly warped frame) through which all and sundry insects smaller than say, a human hand could easily get through. I haven't even stayed here. I never would have based on the reviews, but there was nothing else anywhere close to Cooperstown. I still wouldn't book here but my husband, trying to be helpful, had a friend at work help him book it over Expedia. Big mistake. I'd already looked at this place(also listed as "Travellers Inn") and dismissed it as an option. Needless to say, I cancelled. Less than 12 hours after booking and two days prior to what would have been our arrival. We still got charged 50% of what he got scammed into paying to begin with. I called right away and spoke to someone there who first told me to email the information and he would forward it to his manager and then, on my follow-up calls, kept telling me it would be up to the manager.
