very quaint beautiful inn and pub. tye rooms are all unique and ild fashioned. its sort of like being at grandmas house. the food is amazing so good! everything is made from scratch high quality local meat and stufff. alot of locals and chefs from around town coming in because they know it is consistently done right and not overly expwnsive like some other places in har harbor

Got to this place after speaking with the owner of a local bar we stopped into. Asked him what he would recommend and he steered us to the black friar. Totally a great recommendation. Service atmosphere and food were great. Fresh seafood. 2.00 fresh oysters for happy hour!!! Will definitely go back To it again

Although this inn/restaurant is not on the “main” section of town, it is a must stop for dinner! Of our three days in Bar Harbor this was the BEST dinner we had. Brian , our server was attentive, funny and friendly. The cozy atmosphere is welcoming. The burger was one of the best I’ve had in my life and the fries will disappear before you know it! Scallop tacos were amazing as well. Although we were stuffed, we couldn’t pass on the homemade desserts. Don’t miss out on this treasure!!

We stayed two nights and enjoyed dinner during happy hour and breakfast, which is included in the stay. The room was great! The bed was comfy and we booked room 4, so there was a spiral staircase leading to a cozy nook for watching TV in the evenings. The food was delicious! We had fish and chips that were nice and crispy. The breakfast was also delicious, and way more than you could get at a traditional hotel. It’s a great location with just a short walk to all the shopping and restaurants so you don’t have to worry about finding a place to park. It’s also about 13 minutes from Acadia, so going back and forth throughout the day was no issue.

Our first time at a Bed and Breakfast and The Black Friar Inn set the bar HIGH!!! The breakfast was amazing, beds super comfy, and the staff were attentive. It is tucked away from the noise on the main street (so don’t miss it!!) but is still an excellent location within walking distance of everything Bar Harbor has to offer. And they do the cutest thing for readers like me - your restaurant bill comes in a children’s book 😊
