Best Western Plus Butterfield Inn

This Best Western was above expectations. It's updated, and well-maintained. Our 2Q room was huge and had a nice bathroom. The shower products smelled nice. The included breakfast was delicious.

We really wanted to love this place after reading so many positive google reviews, but it wasn’t all it’s cracked up to be. The breakfast was decent and they did have an espresso machine, however I was disappointed that a message popped up that it needed to be cleaned. The room was ok, seemed clean and bed was moderately comfortable. The bathroom had a paint peeling from the ceiling and needed some work. Also there was a patch of water damaged drywall next to the tub that should have been replaced before renting the room. The pool area had a strong smell of mold and there was indeed mold on the grout underneath the hall windows and on the ceiling above the door that led outside. In the lobby all of the hanging light fixtures were full of bugs. Not the worst place I have stayed, but with so

Given. Key to room that was not cleaned. Second room had broken switch on desk lamp,phone not plugged in,nightstand lamp not plugged in, tv did not work, internet extremely slow. Ice cold eggs and sausage at breakfast,good coffee, breakfast attendant did not speak a word of English . Given approximately 20% discount on room rate. Would have preferred a trouble free stay.

We have stayed at this hotel over a number of years and have always enjoyed our stay. This year was different. The booking experience was new: we were not only charged a pet fee for our dog, we had to get a room at a higher rate than had we come without a dog.||The room we were provided apparently was only used for pets. In any case it smelled like a high school chemistry lab: very unplesant.||The facility badly needed maintenance. For example, part of the handle on the exterior door near our room was missing.||The breakfast menu contained fewer items than it had in the past.||We will for sure find alternative lodging on our next trip to Hays

Positive: The location was convenient and the breakfast was good. Negative: The swimming pool was freezing and the hot tub was lukewarm. The bubbles did not work either. The water was murky and had a faint smell. At breakfast in the morning, the staff was yelling back and forth at one another which was not pleasant either.
