Baymont by Wyndham Mason

The room was very clearly not cleaned prior to my arrival. The toilet seat was covered in urine. There were Modelo cans scattered throughout the room. There was ink all over the bedsheets, and there was a thick brown substance in the bathtub. It was obvious that basic housekeeping had not been done. The pool area was closed, and there were roaches crawling on the counters in the breakfast bar area. Overall cleanliness and sanitation were extremely concerning. What made the situation even more frustrating was the pricing. When I booked over the phone, I was quoted $50 per night. However, upon checking in at the hotel kiosk, I was charged $50 per night plus an additional $200 in “taxes and fees.” These extra charges were not clearly disclosed or explained. I needed an inexpensive stop for the night as I was going to be moving on and the Baymont by Wyndham in Mason, Ohio met that criteria. There wasn't anything that stood out as a negative or screamed "don't stay here" but there wasn't really anything that stood out as being above average either. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but it looked a little dated and the guy at the check-in counter, though not unfriendly, could have been a bit friendlier in his demeanor. Overall it wasn't bad but it didn't stand out either as being above average.

Positive: Close to Kings Island Negative: Hair dryer did not work. The tub looked like there was mold around the caulking, looked sloppy. The room was ok. Breakfast was basic, but not great. Passable. If I were to go to Kings Island again, I would probably book a room here because it was close.

We ended up leaving after we saw the condition of the room. - There were bed bug shells under the mattress - Sheets and pillow cases were stained, some clearly with blood - There was some weird, white foamy substance around the whrlpool tub, which was itself rusty - The furnishings in the rooms were dirty and damaged I asked for a refund but I will apparently only get one if their exterminator finds live bed bugs. But, for the $200 the room was, I would at least expect it to be clean.
