This is a very nice park (tough to get reservations to). I’d say this is right at the top of my “parks to come back to” list. Very secluded sites, restaurant in the park, 4 miles of beach with boat rentals. We stayed in the shark eye loop with a camper that’s 31 feet to the hitch. I was towing with a long bed, crew cab Silverado and we barely fit into site number 48. All the sites in this loop looked short for our type of rig. Also, the sites are not level nor are they paved. But I won’t complain because my camper was nestled deep in the trees and it was very private site. A short walk through the woods leads to a small laundromat and nice showers. There’s also a nice playground for children near the entrance to the loop.
I have many childhood memories of camping with family and friends here. Now, I got to return with my own family and started an amazing journey that I can share with them. The campsites are clean and they do need a little attention as they drop off hard from the pavement. You can walk to the beach. It was under a mile 1 way from our site and safe and easy walk. You can walk the trails. You can also walk from the campsite to the amphitheater right next door. I am already looking for the next open weekend so we can go back. This campground is very hard to get into.
Tent camp site 004 roomy sun and shade. Walk or drive over to the beach, walk to farmers market at amphitheater on Saturday morning. And if you know me!!! Gluten free options here!! Lots of fun!
The park is nice but the campground is so poorly designed. It's a shame because the trees are beautiful and there is a nice buffer space however everything from the overly narrow entrance gate to the turns surrounded by concrete domes, to the campground loop entrances with fences to narrow your path all seems designed simply to make it possible to damage your RV. And there's absolutely no reason for any of these obstructions as there is plenty of space, but whoever designed this place seems intent to make it more likely for you to damage your RV.
The ocean was less than appealing, it was giving off lake erie vibes, but the camping....the Absolute BEST !!! Beautiful, peaceful, a little close to other campers, but it doesn't even matter !
