Aloft Columbia Downtown

We travel with our dog so we use Alofts all over the USA, all o can say is that this Aloft is AWESOME! Jimmy and the whole front desk crew were super helpful, the valets very nice and the whole crew took great care of us. Property is super clean, has the traditional Aloft pool table and bar area that were well kept, rooms were all up to date it’s in the heart of downtown. Even after we checked out, there was an error in billing and the GM had it resolved within 24 hours of notification.

We stayed at Aloft and had a wonderful experience. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and the front desk staff had a small welcome bag and card ready for us when we arrived. The staff members were very friendly and professional; the room was well appointed. The location was fantastic! We paid for breakfast, a food credit, and parking to be included, and breakfast was excellent! The only thing that was a bit difficult was figuring out the pre-paid parking situation, so ask about that before you go, but the actual parking itself was super convenient, plus they valet. We also forgot to ask about our food credit, so don’t forget that, but neither of those things were not the fault of the hotel. Good location - walking distance to restaurants, convention center, and colonial life arena. Staff was nice but not great. Stayed on 5th floor and it was a noisy room. Not sure if it was wind, plumbing, or other utility but it was noisy for sure. Rooms and decor are great as are all Aloft properties. I would stay again but try a different room lo atio.

Positive: All was familiar as I have stayed there before?especially the adjacent garage. Negative: My room was on a corner and I could see directly into another room which was at a 90 degree angle. So just pulled down the shade. It would also, as a senior citizen, been useful to have had a hand bar on the wall next to the toilet.

GREAT location, nice valet, amazing bartender. Nice decor. But for some reason when they built this hotel they clearly didn’t use any soundproofing. We had a nice room on the 4th floor on the back side of the hotel facing an alley- so no street noise. However you can literally hear a pin drop from the hall, your neighbor’s room, the room above you, etc. I’ve never stayed in a hotel with such poor soundproofing- which is such a shame because everything else was nice. Sadly, we were woken up overnight by every little sound you can think of (and the hotel wasn’t even busy… can’t imagine how loud it would be during a busy weekend).
