Winthrop Inn

To start this off, i want to mention that the staff were extremely friendly and the location was great. This is definitely where the good ends. Room was absolutely filthy. The bathroom window glass was broken, there were hundreds of dead bugs on the bathroom ceiling. The shower was peeling and had soft spots underneath. The water temperature was wildly inconsistent, going from freezing cold to scalding hot without touching the knob. The carpet was heavily stained, including an approximately 1' x 3' giant yellow stain in a corner. The wall receptacles barely held plugs, the coffee maker cord was INSIDE the baseboard heater when i arrived (not to mention i arrived to a thermostat set at 80 and the smell of burning rubber that led me to the cord in the heater) To top it all off, the bed had

We had stayed at Winthrop Inn a year previous in September 2024 and found the motel adequate at that time for our purposes, so it seemed a reasonable choice this year after a trip through the Cascades. Unfortunately, this establishment now seems to be in decline. ||I was informed upon check-in that they had now discontinued the continental breakfast. OK, that was understandable, particularly given the very limited seating area available, and there are other breakfast options in town. But there were numerous issues with our room. Not huge ones, but the cumulative effect was disappointing. ||First, the balcony door and bathroom window were both very old and in poor condition. The "burglar bar" was loose, the windows were difficult to open & close, and there were numerous holes in the screen.

Property poorly maintained. Arrived at 6 pm with a small group of friends, had 3 rooms booked, 2 of them were dirty ( not cleaned after previous guests) . One room not serviced at all after previous party checked out ( dirty towels, linens, trash everywhere) when my friends entered the room. My room was presented as clean by the front desk but upon looking at the sink and bathroom, had a dirty towel by the sink and trash in both trash cans. The beds looked like possibly used linens. Went to eat, asked front desk to clean my room. At return, 2 light bulbs were defective ( bathroom and above the sink) and there was a small water leak from the ceiling. Sink barely draining. Positive: There wasn’t much that I liked about this hotel. The outdoor stairs were very dangerous. The mattresses and pillows were very uncomfortable, and the bathroom sink was actually in the living room instead of the bathroom, which was weird. It was very dated! Negative: The people that worked here seemed very nice.

The front desk host was nice and the location was good. But the room was dirty. There is no way they put fresh sheets on our bed. Luckily we had a sleeping bag in our car to use. I did only pay 100 for the night and I didn’t expect luxury but I did expect clean bedding.
