Winjum's Shady Acres Campgrounds & Resort

Was set to go spend some good quality time with my two daughters and their spouses. The morning we were meant to go, I ended up in the emergency room then the ICU for pneumonia. I was told that I couldn't get my money back due to it being less than the 48 hours required to get a refund. Had I known I would be hospitalized for 2 days, I surely would have called and requested a refund. I think what bothers me the most is they could have at least given me a voucher for a later stay. Eight hundred dollars gone and not so much as a sorry to hear you are ill. Sent my oldest daughter down to stay after being told they were gonna re-rent the cabin in my absence and not refund my money. Daughter said the room was filthy and has gone down hill over the years. We stayed in one of the cabins for 6 nights. We were right on the lake. It was so beautiful and peaceful and we loved hearing the Canadian geese early in the morning. We actually had my Dad's 80th birthday party in the restaurant for 45 people. The service was excellent and so was the food. Pam helped us out with every detail to make it a perfect day. I can't wait to go back and stay there again.

Great service!!! I wish I would have gotten her name! we were a group of 10 (sat at 2 tables, of course, following the rules!) My pasta wasn't great, it was dry, but I'm sure this isn't their normal. Everyone else loved their meals & they looked delicious! Appetizers were yummy! There is obviously a great chef behind the door! Back to the service, it was so great that it didn't matter that my food wasn't awesome, I will return because the service was that great!

I may be rating slightly higher here because it was a great evening for me completely unrelated to the dining, but I was impressed! Fries were crunchy and very tasty, my burger was excellent (juicy, spicy, delicious), and portions were enough to not leave you wanting more, but also not "quantity over quality". Long story short, get the jalapeño poppers and burger if you actually like spice (they have a kick), but everyone said the food was delicious!

The food has been good each of the three times we've eaten there. We had beer-battered fish and turkey club. Both "dishes" were fresh, tasty and we would get them again. Friday night is all-you-eat fish and Winjum's offers pan-fried, battered and broiled. We have tried each and we would order each again. Good service,reasonably priced food and a really nice lake view. Add it to your list of restaurants to take visitors.
