This is one of the most open and expansive wilderness areas. I help run fishing clinics here sometimes for IDNR and the location always produces at least a few fish minimum each trip. The location also has canoe and fishing rod borrowing options for visitors. The visitor center is also really neat. It houses a variety of animals that are taken care of by their experts. Be sure to stop in and tell them "Hello" when you visit

Great for a view or walk no luck fishing here water is clear with lots of vegetation that snagged my hook.

I love this place! Very quiet and relaxing. Lots of wildlife and unique flora. The Boardwalk on the Hammond side is worth visiting. Speaking of, on the Indiana side of Wolf Lake, swimming is allowed but not on the Illinois side, and I'm unsure why. Even wading in the water is not permitted on the IL side (even on hot summer days). Other than that, I highly recommend visiting this southeast side gem.

Great new kayak access but who does quality controller? Screws and bolts loose or missing.

I’ve driven past this for 30+ years and never stopped until now. I never understood from the highway why so many people were always out here. Wow. What a hidden gem. Great fishing, hiking, and just an overall place to relax! We will definitely stop every time we pass through from here on out!
