This is a nice place, especially to get than away from it feeling without sitting in a cookie cutter hotel chain. Located in a rural area it is beautifully forested and has a number of short hikes that are well groomed. We have stayed here in both winter and summer, but this review covers our recent winter stay. All roads and paths are cleaned of snow. The rooms are as described on the site, with a few notes. You cannot use the fireplace without having the door or a window open because there isn't a vent for it. You must vent to eliminate the smell of gas, and that kind of defeats the purpose of having a warm fire. Although well shoveled, you track in snow and pebbles because there is no matt or rug provided to clean shoes before entering. And a final negative - the water pressure

Used to go to White pines every year till about 10 years ago. This is my first year back since, and it wasn't what it used to be. The trails are still nice and it's beautiful woods with rustic little cabins made during the great depression. But, this was not the time to go. We arrived to be told 'there's a boil notice on the water, so take a couple bottles water'. No real explanation, just don't use the water. This made the stay pretty tricky, because it wasn't just don't use the water, it meant the lodge's restaurant was also closed. Our plan was do a hike on the sunset trail at sunset then get dinner, but by the time we finished and how long it took to drive to Oregon (the nearest town that said it has food open) didn't really have anything open that sold food (open pubs listed, but not

This used to be one of our favorite places to hike and spend a few nights until last week. We had made reservations, checked in, and went to our assigned cabin about 3PM. When we got to the cabin there were dirty bed sheets, dirty towels, and trash scattered thru-out the cabin. The bathroom was filthy. I went back to the office (no apologies from them) and they gave us a different cabin. It was ok until I noticed what appeared to be animal droppings on the furniture. I went back to the office again and they gave me a refund on my deposit. It is really to bad because this used to be a nice place to stay. So we wasted 3 hours round trip. They acted like they didn't care...never again

A fun old-fashioned experience. The lodge, and the log cabins that you stay in were built in the early 1930's by the CCC. While there are limited amenities, the idea is you go to this State Park lodge to relax and chill. There is a resturant for your meals, and a pretty good gift shop, otherwise you take hikes on the many trails, sit in Adirondack chairs and read, talk, make campfires, play games, chat, do personal crafts, fish, picnic, etc. Very relaxing and low stress. The lodge often has low-key events such as music or dinner-theatre, or seasonal themed dinners.

The Four Seasons Tribute musical matinee was superb. Servers friendly and efficient. Buffet, not so much. Much better quality and flavor of food off their menu. Shouldn't the offerings on buffet food be comparable?
