We stayed in February. Not a lot of demand. Had a very nice spot, close to the office. Nice trails for walking even with the dog. Alan at the office was very nice and extremely helpful about the area an other parks with trails. For a state park campground we were very happy here and very happy they had winter camping!!! Some state parks don't. I do wish other people that come thru or camp there would throw their trash away and pick up after their dogs.

It is a beautiful place to camp and I would love to give five stars again this year but they really need some new camp hosts! The older lady is really rude! Came up and yelled bc my one truck tire was one the grass in my camping area. There were camp sites all around me with cars completely in the grass. They say you can have 2 vehicles but there is only enough room for on at each site. There are some sites next to parking spots but none in the back that way. Then said something about my dog having to be on a leash at all times. Which she could see clearly he was. I have a small dog that's a Jack Russel and I have seen a few big dogs that don't seem very friendly with other dogs in the past, so why would I put my dog in harms way by not having him on a leash. I have never had an issue or b

More of a wide open feel, like camping on someone's farm, but it does have trails in the campground that go straight to the Blackhawk statue, and one is actually quite a climb, I don't recommend bringing your two year old along like we did.

Clean shower house, helpful hosts, and usually quiet. There are swings and a playground. There is a sand volleyball area. Of course, you can't forget the eternal Indian statue. You can take the trails for a hike as well.

I grew up going to this camp grounds and am incredibly disappointed to what it’s become. the park is absolutely stunning, but the camp grounds employee has to be from the pits of hell. He’s an older man and has continued to not give anything but issues. Nosy and bitter, my family and I were hoping to enjoy our trip like old times but we did not have a moment of peace with this man breathing down our necks. One minute it was “your dogs too loud tell her to keep it down” the next it was “you can’t have your tent there” he was just always right behind us ready to criticize absolutely anything and making up rules on the spot.
