Westerly RV Park

Positive:|Convenient location to go into Durango or other “must-sees” in this area. |Right across the road from Durango Hot Springs|. |Negative: (sorry but true)|Management not very friendly. Never see a welcoming smile or appreciation that we are customers. |Grounds need cleaning up after an RV has vacated a site. Bottle caps, cig butts, food garbage welcomed us on day 1. |Dog-doo not picked up by dog owners seen a couple times on the grounds. ||The owners of this campground can DEFINITELY do better. I hope they realize that there are other campgrounds in the Durango area that outshine theirs.

Our summer here in Durango has been amazing. We’ve stayed at Westerly for weeks on and off again and keep coming back because its location is so damn convenient. We have the Hot Springs within 50 feet. There’s an ACE hardware and a grocery store right across the road. And an easy 10 minute drive to downtown Durango or 15 minutes to Purgatory. Fun people, nice staff, lots of regulars. Do yourself a favor and book your next RV/travel trailer trip here.

Cozy property, lots of trees, stayed at shady spot 4, soaked my feet in the warm water creek coming from the nearby hot springs and had great views of the mountains. North of Durango but across street from the Durango Hot Springs and Spa ( you must go!). My contact, Carrie, was very accommodating, gracious, very responsive. Guests were friendly but not intrusive.||I enjoyed hearing the steam train to Silverton go by tooting its horn-not everyone might enjoy this or 550 traffic nearby-but that means a nice market/liquor/hardware store and Dalton Rqnch golf course is also across the 550.||No showers or bathroom at small laundry facility and, yes, there are extra daily fees for additional people and pets

They were very accommodating to us for extending our stay. Unfortunately, after a day or so, we were infested with box elder bugs in our motor home. We killed at least 50 per night. We asked to be moved which they accommodated us. Unfortunately that didn’t help. So after no relief from the bugs we decided to move on. We were charged for all 7 nights. I was hoping sine this is a problem the campground had, I would have been refunded for the unused nights. That didn’t happen. Not sure I would stay there again.

Clean park in beautiful setting. Owners friendly and helpful. Only negative was no showers, but do have full hookups. 7 miles north of Durango, about 15 miles south of Purgatory ski location.
