Virginian Resort

Really enjoyed it! Perfect location and super friendly staff. Pet friendly is certainly a huge advantage for those who want to travel with their furry friends. There are coffee and hot water for tea in the area close to the reception. Next door, there are a great grocery store, gas station, and a pizza restaurant.

Rooms are clean and delightfully unique. Stayed on a top floor room. The floor is old and "creaky" so I'm sure I'll ask for a top floor again on my next stay. The beds are positioned far away from the adjoining walls which is nice as that minimizes the sounds of talking, snoring, etc. The a/c was effective, and the small balcony was nice. There are no other windows besides the balcony in the room type we had but that didn't matter. The high ceilings are nice.

Wife & I looking for property, chose to spend the night. We've stayed here a few times. The hotel has been here as long as I can remember, it's styled like a western style lodge. This is the only hotel I know of that still allows 1 night rentals.|Rooms are clean and large. They are a bit dark given everything is dark wood (lodge), but open the drapes and it's bright enough. A bit older but eveything does work. Good location, just south of town. You can walk the trail/bridge into town or simply drive the mile or so. Next door to East 20 pizza and the grocery store. This is one of the most affordable stays in Winthrop. Staff are polite and professional.

It was a basic place to stay. Not expensive but it çould have been a bit cleaner. The TV and Internet had issues in this room.

Okay, the reviews don't come close to what our property experience was like. Maybe some of the small cabins are better or the other 8 unit buildings too, but I can say our 8 unit building was rough. Wasn't expecting Sun Mountain resort, but seriously the owners have put very little back into maintaining this place and it shows. The good - location, near the river, lobby area has potential (when / if open), relatively clean, baseboard heating did get toasty, microwave, average refer (slow to cool, not defrosted in a long while), and beds were decent. The not so good - needs upgrading and basic maintenance pretty badly. Gap under door (see picture) let cold air in. Bathroom fan useless given staining on wood walls. Hack job on shower / tub enclosure - really? AC unit install - really? Roug
