Villa Montes Hotel

I recently stayed at Villa Montes in South San Francisco for four nights, paying about $660 in total. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. First, I needed an extra blanket, so I took one from the closet. When I unfolded it, I found hair on it. I called the front desk, and the staff member responded in a slightly annoyed tone, telling me there was another one in the closet. I explained that the blanket was dirty, and she told me I could come down to the front desk to pick up a different one. I was quite surprised that I had to go down myself to replace a dirty blanket. When I brought the replacement blanket back to the room and opened it, it also had visible clumps of hair on it. Start with positives: It's easy to get to and to park; the hotel has a lot of stylish touches.|Too bad our room's heat didn't work. The front desk staff seemed powerless to provide information about getting it fixed. The maintenance staff brought us a small space heater.|The provided breakfast was as basic as it can get, and one day I got there at 9:45 and staff were already putting things away.|The workout room is a joke.|Here are some tips for staff: if you remove dirty towels, replace them at the same time. If you see that there isn't a spare roll of toilet paper, provide it.|Also annoying is the bathroom door that closes by itself. But the worst is the jets flying overhead. At least earplugs are provided!

Positive: Nothing Negative: Rude front desk, unresponsive manager. Tv did not work, safe did not work, room smelled like weed and cleaning chemicals. Bed was absolutely horrible, sinking. We did not stay and attempted to cancel the stay.

We planned to stay at Villa Montes on December 26th-28th. On the morning of our check in, my cousins, who were driving from Southern California to SF, was involved in a car accident during the atmospheric river rain storms, forcing us to cancel the trip. While we were aware of the standard 50% cancellation policy, we believed a dire situation caused by dangerous weather would warrant an exception. We submitted a request to Villa Montes for a full refund. Their response was a cold denial, offering no compassion, only a rigid reference to their policy. We contacted Airbnb Customer Service as a result. Airbnb contacted Villa Montes on our behalf and they refused the full refund again. Friendly staff. Clean hotel. Unique hotel decor. Had ice water and hot fresh coffee in lobby. Room very clean. Bathroom also clean. Appliances work well. Lots of coffee in room. Toilet works well. Bath tub and shower works , hot water strong. Heater and ac works well. Unique decoration and furniture in room. Sufficient lighting inside room. Smells nice not musty. In convenient location by stores and restaurants in walking distance, can walk to San Bruno station for bart too. Good value, close to sfo airport.
