Positive: Quiet room, convenient location. Negative: Bland breakfast, almost exactly the same daily. In previous years this hotel made an effort to present breakfast diversity thru the week.

They’ve even got those lazy hanging chairs—which are basically hammocks for people who want to look professional—and a pool table. Plus, they had actual USA Today newspapers. I have always chosen Tru by Hilton Sterling Heights Detroit whenever I travel to Michigan, but my recent experience with Sam has made me seriously reconsider staying here again. The issue started when I received an email informing me that my two-room booking had been cancelled because the hotel couldn’t reach me. At the time, I was on a 22-hour flight from the UAE to Michigan, which made it impossible to answer calls. Once I landed, I immediately contacted the hotel and asked to rebook the rooms. I fully understood that this would be at new rates, and I accepted the offer without argument, as I understand hotel policies. What was completely unacceptable, however, was Sam’s attitude on the phone. He was extremely rude, dismissive, and unwilling to listen to my situation or needs. Instead

First off, I called and James was very standoffish and short. Then at check in, James was rude and lacked customer service skills. Second, the floors were dirty, the counter wasn’t wiped off. Hair on TJ’s bathroom skink. Stain on the pillow. Housekeeping came and changed the pillow case and wiped the counter off. The lock on the door to our room didn’t work so we couldn’t lock the door. Overall not a good experience
