The Willows Hotel

Willows was a chance find when our hotel reservation at another hotel didn’t work out and we had to find something quick! Since then, we have stayed at the hotel on three trips to the city already and we love the place! The rooms are spacious, the location is perfect- it’s walkable to so many restaurants. Walked to the theatre and also to a poetry reciting at a location close by. Service is good. There is no breakfast at the hotel but there’s so many places close by that it really doesn’t matter. Coffee is available in the reception so that’s perfect. It is an older building so it has its quirks but that’s part of the charm in my opinion! Price wise - it was reasonable and for that location, it’s worth it.

My experience with The Willows Hotel was exceptional overall. I travel too Chicago often for work and leisure but seem to consider every hotel I stay at as an afterthought from each trip and quickly forget about them. This hotel is memorable for a couple reason; the location is awesome. Easy in and out for checking in due to the road not being so busy. They are just a couple blocks from the Nature Preserve and all the parks walking paths. There is plenty of food and shopping options, and the stay was quiet. Yes.. quite! Also, they have affordable parking only 1 min walk from the hotel. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the customer service is exceptional, and the room was clean with all the amenities I needed minus a microwave in the room (there was one in the lobby). I don’t have many requirements to be satisfied with a hotel stay, but the least I expect is a solid night of sleep. This hotel has thin walls and you can hear every step taken in the room above yours. The creaking floors kept us awake throughout the night. Overall just too noisy and loud so we weren’t able to rest after a long day walking around the city. They need to add padded carpet, or something, to improve the noise issues. The location is good but that’s it unfortunately. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Last minute trip to Chicago because my son was in the hospital. I was so glad they had a room. 10-Minute walk to the hospital and everything else I needed. My husband and I have stayed here before and really like this hotel. No frills. No pools. No hot tub. No breakfast -- none needed because there's dozens of places to eat within walking distance. Quiet, clean and friendly staff. Just a great hotel. Will definitely stay here again when we visit. |Great coffee!||We had booked a room in June but my mother passed away in right before our trip. The hotel very nicely refunded our money even though we had booked a no refund room. Very considerate during a difficult time.
