The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at the Westin San Antonio Riverwalk was so alarming that I feel obligated to warn other guests. I checked in on February 11th and was granted a confirmed late checkout of 4:00 PM on February 13th. Despite this, I received a call around 2:00 PM stating that my luggage had been “left behind,” even though I had not checked out and my reservation was still active. I clearly informed staff that I was returning shortly and that my belongings were intentionally still in the room. I was told the situation was a mistake and had been resolved. It had not. When I returned to the hotel, my key no longer worked because staff had already entered my room and removed my luggage without my consent, despite my approved late checkout. Right off the river walk and close to everything. I love to walk, so this was perfect for me. I rented a truck to go outside the city, but Uber/Lyft could have been sufficient. This hotel had everything I needed and beautiful views. They also had valet service, which I used and am so glad I did.

The Westin San Antonio Riverwalk is a pretty good experience. Nothing actually knocked my socks off but with reasonable expectations the Westin Riverwalk is hard to beat. The lobby is great, plenty of room to sit and people watch. The staff is friendly, the valet / drive up area is small but a major plus is there is a parking lot directly across the street for less than half the price of the hotel parking. The views from the lobby are hard to beat, the location is really kinda perfect. It's not far from the hustle and bustle of the busy part of the Riverwalk, yet it's far enough from it that it's not noisy or boisterous. The bar and restaurant are nice, good breakfast, I think the dinner menu could use a little reimagining including the bar snack menu. But still overall nice. I've staye

The ONLY positive about this hotel, justifying the one star, is it's location and view from the balcony. We had a late check in after being on the road all day and upon arrival waited in our car for any of the valet staff to acknowledge us but instead ended up going into the lobby for a luggage cart, unload our luggage and walk the keys to the valet stand ourselves before anyone addressed us. Going up to our room we noticed something brownish smeared all over the elevator button which was reason enough for a less than stellar review. Before venturing out to get something to eat we called the front desk and asked for directions to the one restaurant on the riverwalk we know to be open 24/7, we didn't know the name or we would have looked it up ourselves. Positive: Exceptional customer service! Everyone who worked there was super nice. Beautifully furnished hotel, perfect location. Negative: A few maintenance issues - all the elevators had an alarming CLANK every time the doors opened or shut. 12th floor ice room remained flooded the entirety of our 3 night stay. We reported it, and there was no evidence that anyone had worked to fix it.
