The Queen Mary

What an amazing experience! We only discovered The Queen Mary Hotel just days before departing for our USA trip and were absolutely thrilled to still secure a booking.||Staying on this beautiful, historic ship was truly unique and felt like stepping back in time. It’s a fantastic experience for anyone interested in history and something far more memorable than a standard hotel stay.||We had read reviews mentioning room temperature and noise issues, but neither impacted our stay at all. It’s important to remember this is a ship built in the 1930s and not a modern hotel with all the mod cons we’re used to in 2025 — once you keep that in mind, it’s all part of the charm.||Our room was clean and much more spacious than we expected. Positive: Staff was amazing. We received an upgrade to our room and it was incredible. So much history, so cool to walk around the ship and view all the exhibits. Plenty of places to eat. Negative: I was bummed that the pool room and the wedding chapel were not open for viewing.

So much potential, but needs a lot more work. We enjoyed staying here, but the place definitely needs some money invested to restore it to what it can be. The room was strange. It was pretty big, but almost seemed like they threw out furniture, but didn’t replace it. Half of the room was just empty and there was a too-small tv hanging weirdly on the wall. The bathroom was very outdated, but shower had good pressure. The bed was quite comfortable and had nice linens. The market place on board was closed. Coffee shop had good coffee, but we did not try the restaurant. We also did a ghost tour and that was really fun. I’d love to see this place restored to its original glory.

We stayed here for a night before a cruise on the Carnival Panorama. We booked a junior suite and it was perfect for my husband, 1 year old son, and me. The ship is a little dated but thats to be expected since it was built in the 1930s. The heating/cooling is not individualized - it's the same throughout the ship. But we were comfortable during our January stay. They supplied a pack and play for my son and a they said a fan was available if we needed it, but we did not. The restaurants are expensive but the food was good and super convenient. Check in and out was a breeze. They moved all of our luggage to our room for us and then were available to assist after we checked out too. Cool history there. Loved all of the art and antique pieces available to view. Also loved the view of the harbor. The rooms, are low-tech, of course. However, that can be a nice change of pace. Finally, those sensitive to vibes should expect to feel a lot of them. If one is "squeamish about ghosts," one should avoid the place. However, if one is more sophisticated about the natural vibrations of historic ships, one can have a relaxing and spiritual experience, as I did.
