This is an outdated motel, not a resort by any stretch of the imagination. I’m confident that any Best Western or Holiday Inn would’ve provided a better experience at a lower price point. The photos are extremely misleading, leading one to believe they’re booking an updated, cute, modern hotel room. This is far from the truth. The rooms had very minimal “updates”, and for the most part everything in the room was original - I’m guessing from the 80’s when it was built, including original bathroom finishings. The cleanliness of the room was questionable, there were crumbs everywhere and some mysterious items on the floor. Worst of all is the room REEKED of cigarettes. It was so strong that we smelled it in our sleep. We also questioned the safety and security of the room due to a few strange
A group of my college friends have stayed at Palmer House each fall for a long weekend for many years. Up to this point, it’s been a very positive experience. However this visit (October 23-26) was a disappointment. We arrived in our rooms to find that the cots we ordered were not there. I had even called earlier that week to double check on the cots and I was told yes we have the cots for each room. They delivered the cots and they did not make them up. We had to do it ourselves. And, we had to request blankets because there were none. There was no soap in either of our rooms. We were told they had run out. Seriously? The rooms were dirty. Trash was found behind a couch and there was a toothpick on the floor in another. In one room there was a table lamp that couldn’t be plugged
I was concerned about the stay at this hotel due to previous reviews. We stayed in one of the king suite rooms with a jacuzzi, which are like little bungalows. It was extremely spacious with a lounge, little kitchenette, massive bathroom and a lovely deck area facing a small lake. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Breakfast offered was adequate with bread, muffins, fruit, yogurt and hot eggs and sausage patties. The receptionist was very nice and chatty. The grounds were lovely and you could borrow fishing rods, golf clubs and tennis racquet.
Stayed here over new years and was pretty consistently disappointed throughout our 3-night stay. In general, the property was pretty run down. Our room seemed mostly clean (though there was a leftover container of half-eaten M&M's under our bed/nightstand...). The furniture was all in pretty rough shape and covered in stains. The pool area was a good plus, but the hot tub wasn't the cleanest and had plenty of hair floating in it when we arrived. When we asked for some additional towels at the front desk to use for the pool area we were refused. So, we were left with just 2 towels for our entire stay. When we booked our stay, it clearly communicated breakfast would be provided. The first morning we were informed that the company that provides breakfast did not show up. The second morning w
The Palmer House Resort is a cute little motel style resort in the heart of Manchester, VT. The rooms could use some updating: the couch was worn in spots and the mattress dipped severely in the middle. But otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was one of the cleanest I’ve seen in any hotel in a long time. The biggest issue I had was that the Internet didn’t work in my room - which was a problem as I was in town for work. The front desk clerk, Michael, couldn’t find the problem so invited me to work from the lobby. Not ideal, but it was comfortable and he offered me drinks and snacks on the house as an apology, which was lovely. I hope to stay here again, as long as the Internet issue is resolved. Highly recommend!
