As a former New Yorker and frequent traveler, I genuinely wonder who is writing these glowing reviews. Either they sleep through jet engines or they never turned on the air conditioner. The AC is so loud it could easily qualify as a small aircraft preparing for takeoff. “Amazing location,” apparently. Yes, there is public transportation nearby. But this is New York — there’s public transportation everywhere. That’s like praising a hotel for having oxygen. When I approached the building, I actually stopped to check the address because it didn’t look like a hotel entrance. It looked more like the side door to an office building… covered in faux flowers. Inside, the design could best be described as IKEA after a clearance sale. The rooms aren’t terrible if you like Scandinavian minimalism

Such a lovely haven in the city that never sleeps. Stayed in Queens for the first time at the Modernist - generally paytwice as much to stay in Manhattan and whine all the way home. This was so different. Loved the room with a view, great service, super friendly staff even in the middle of the night, and great recommendation for breakfast. Room had everything we needed and more (slippers!), was spacious and well lit. Will be back!

I asked the hotel before check in whether I can pay for late check out and I got an email confirming the price and an alright. After checking in the friendly lady on the first night told me to call down the next morning and check whether it was available or not. That really confused me coz I was ready to pay the $75 Confirmed. This amount h til 1 pm And now it was not sure. Anyways I call in the morning and another lady told me ist now $75 per hour plus tax. So another story. Which really pissed me off. So I said ok forget it I check out at 11 and go for a long massage and relax instead of paying $150 for two hours plus tax. So please be warned. Even with confirmed email these people at the front desk change their minds or will say they never heard about the email. Positive points is t

Location is fantastic—heart of Long Island City on 28th St, easy walk to subway (quick 10-15 min to Manhattan), close to MoMA PS1, Noguchi Museum, local eats, and stunning skyline views. Perfect affordable base for NYC without Midtown chaos. Rooms were great: spacious suites with kitchenette (fridge, microwave—handy for snacks), comfy beds, modern design, natural light, and some balconies with epic Manhattan views. Clean and stylish. Service was outstanding—super friendly family-run vibe, multilingual staff gave great tips, quick check-in, and genuinely caring throughout. Boutique art-gallery feel with plush touches—loved it! Great value and would stay again in a heartbeat. 5 stars!

This hotel is adorable; it’s a cute little family owned hotel in a good location with lots of stuff nearby. The front desk was very friendly and the room was clean. Althought the matress was extremely uncomfortable for sleeping, especially side sleepers. We were not bothered by any noise from outside or inside the hotel while we were there. I would say having a huge balcony with a seating area that seats about 15 people is nice and all, except you can’t smoke on it. They have a cute little art gallery area on the first floor of the hotel. Overall it’s a nice place to stay for a night.
