The Local NY

It’s conveniently located not too far from subway. E line brings you to many popular places with no hassle. Yes, the ally is a little dark but it doesn’t have dangerous vibe. I was there for 3 nights and didn’t encounter any suspicious people at night there. It’s very loud in the morning tho, the loading trucks starts early and loud and it doesn’t stop. For the price they offer, you get a four beds with private bathroom and under the bed storage. I’d say it’s very nice not having to use shared bathrooms with a fraction of hotel prices. Of course the room is not 5 star hotel grade and worn, but for a hostel it’s not bad at all. You even get a free drink after checking in. There’s a full size kitchen, two dishwashers and two refrigerators. Stove and microwave both work well. My food stayed

At first, I was lost but that's just the nature of Queens' layout. Once you do find the corner of 21st Street and 44th Drive and see the 'LIC Hotel', you'll know you're on the right path and that the Local is not too much further.||Upon entering, you come across their in-house bar/cafe. Got a coffee, which I really needed as the day was very early, but also because drip was all they had at the time.||Did my pre-check in at the front desk as I was early. Looked for a place to sit among all the secondhand furniture that had seen better days and chose a long desk with a power strip built into it to recharge my devices. At least the bed and sheets upstairs would be clean. Fingers crossed!||Once I was checked in and sent upstairs, I encountered my first problem. My key card didn't work. I went

Overall a great place to stay! One suggestion I have is getting curtains for the dorm beds for more privacy. The private room, which I stayed in 2 nights, is very nice.

A solid 4-star experience at The Local NY. The location was the highlight for me, earning a strong 4-star rating for its convenience. Both the rooms and service were consistent and met my needs well throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend it for a comfortable stay in the city.
