The Louie, A Davenport Hotel, Autograph Collection

I recently visited The Louie in Spokane, Washington, and I’ll be honest, on my first night, I was disappointed by the lack of service. It was the kind of experience that normally would have led me to leave a negative review and choose a different hotel next time. Then, on my second night, I met Malachi and everything changed. From the moment he stepped in, his attention to detail, genuine thoughtfulness, and commitment to excellence completely turned the experience around. He didn’t just do his job, he owned it. Every interaction was handled with care, professionalism, and a positive attitude that made me feel truly valued as a guest. I’m not sure what others experienced, but this property is truly exceptional. The staff delivers top‑tier customer service, and the rooms are impeccably maintained. As part of the Autograph Collection, it’s far from a standard “four walls and a bed” hotel—its historic charm and unique character really stand out. As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium member, I appreciate staying somewhere that doesn’t feel like the same cookie‑cutter layout as other properties. Some earlier reviews mentioned the nearby homeless population, but the hotel is located in the heart of downtown, within walking distance of many excellent restaurants. That’s typical of any major urban area, and at no point did I feel unsafe.

Stayed here for our wedding and had a great experience. The hotel renovation was really well done and the service was great. Housekeeping did a great job keeping our room clean especially given it was our wedding weekend and a lot was going on.

Pros: 1) some of the friendliest staff I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Knowledgeable, they remembered my name, valet was quick, front desk knowledgeable. Over fantastic experience with them. 2) fairly comfortable bed, although I think it's time to replace since it seemed well worn, and although the pillows were the smaller square ones they very VERY comfy. 3) your curtains were definitely blackout and I appreciate it! 4) the tub was deep, may be harder for less mobile guests but if I'd had time for a bath I would have loved it, and the shower temp was easy to manage rather than having 'too hot' or 'too cold' be the only options like most hotels. 5) convenient location and convenience of a full service street-front restaurant attached. I just read the last 3 reviews that were all 1 star and I am confused at what was experienced. I have being staying at the Historic for 4 years monthly and when the Lusso remodeled to the Louie I went over to experience the new boutique style and I am a faithful guest! The staff is unbelievable Malachi from the minute I walked in my first time is by far the best representative of a hotel brand I have met in 10 years of weekly business travel. Because of my experience at checkout I stay at the Louie more than the Historic and that’s saying a lot. The Historic is my home away from home. The area is seedy there are homeless and no you can’t get up and job around the block ha do your research if that’s a part of the needs and know before you go if the area fits that.
