The Leesburg Colonial Inn

Do not stay in the George Washington room (#6) on a weekend night - we checked in on Saturday around 11:30PM after driving from DC and the band in the bar downstairs was bumping until 2AM. The bass was so loud it shook the furniture in the room. The walls were so thin we could hear the conversation between the couple in the room next to us. The hot water was gone around 9AM on Sunday. The little details were just off, too - only one glass to drink out of in the bathroom, a missing lightbulb in a lamp, missing knobs on the wardrobe, cable TV not working, etc. We didn’t try the breakfast. I appreciated the late check-out time (12PM) and the friendly service from the bartender, but overall I’d steer clear of this place. The location is great but they could do so much more with it. Paint color was different and so was layout of tiny historical room. Just so lovely! The Care, Food, Music in bar below, People & Maid Service were lovely and kind people really great! I recommend staying here! Loved shopping all the shops and trying new foods out, meeting kind people!!! And the bar next to the hotel had a fantastic Tuesday evening 7:30 PM jazz band regulars that was incredible. So impressive !!! However, keep in mind it is on main traffic street where trash pick up is at 7:30am. All other information history was ALL Great.

Positive: The staff were friendly and casual. Negative: The hotel was not clean. The carpet in the room was not vacuumed. The bedding was heavily sprayed down with disinfectant, which made sleeping difficult. When I tried to call the hotel, no one answered as the hotel clerk is also the hotel bartender.

I’ve stayed at this hotel before and previously had a good experience, which made this stay especially disappointing. My friend and I recently stayed here. After only being in the room for about 15 minutes we realized the toilet would not flush. I tried calling the front desk multiple times with no answer and eventually had to go down to the bar area to ask for help. A staff member came up to fix it and instead of suggesting they move us to another room, the staff members suggested “we just need to hold the handle down”. However, that did not work and the toilet still did not flush overnight upon using it. It is marketed as a quaint historic B&B, but it is actually a series of rooms above a cafe and bar (owned by the same person); there's no lobby or front desk; and the rooms are small and shabby. My husband and I came to Leesburg for a funeral this past weekend and booked room #6 (the "George Washington" room) for 2 nights, October 31st and November 1st. We were not warned that the bar downstairs would be hosting a Halloween rager with an electronica DJ until 2 am, literally right under our bed. Our room was shaking with the reverberations of the subwoofer until 2 am. We had ear plugs and put pillows over our heads, but there was truly no way to sleep.
