The Inn & Club at Harbour Town

Like a small Ritz-Carlton, but better managed with an almost Asian level of service, which in my experience of luxury hotels worldwide over the last 40 years qualifies this property to be not just a 4 star, but closer to a 5 star, and certainly the best hotel on Hiltonhead Island (all the Marriott properties on HH are pretty mediocre, which is unfortunate for me, given I'm a loyal Bonvoy member). Staff is very well trained as used to be the case at Ritz-Carltons, but no generally longer, given I suppose how challenging it is to find qualified people. Polite and attentive service, good food, excellent housekeeping and beautiful super clean rooms and public areas, what else can you ask for?

*update* - spoke with Cristen the manager and she sincerely expressed her apologies and addressed concerns regarding my stay. The way she views her customers is not that as a one off but ones she wants to make relationships with. Appreciate her response on my issue. Overall the resort was in good, clean, shape along with the room and Inn. However I did book through a third party reservation company (hotels.com) due to gift cards I was wanting to use. Few days after booking and month before arrival I called ahead to ask whether to apply gift cards now or at checkout. After a brief hold the employee told me she talked to her manager and it would be good at checkout. However when I approached on second to last day I was told I can’t use them. We have been coming to the Inn for 20 years and beginning our first trip back in over a year I have observed changes that were not for the better. For instance, 1)daily morning coffee and pastrie display. Coffee cups were replaced with styrofoam Dixie cups, creamer offerings were half and half or almond milk with 2 selections of creamer pods. 2)Pastries seemed to come from packaged brands and not the previous bakery fresh muffins. With the Harbor Town Bakery within a stones throw, you would think that the pastries would be supplied by them. 3)The Nespresso machines were replaced with delonghi machines and the coffee is watered down. 4) as seen in pictures below the bathroom is pieced together and for a vanity and shower door to look as such is unacceptable. My husband spent a last minute night at the Inn and it was absolutely fabulous. The staff was so kind and amazing. Specifically Nancy and Alberto who greeted and treated Like we were special. You so rarely see such exemplary service these days. We will return for another Staycation.

Had an incredible stay here this past week—the service was outstanding. Even when a family member suffered a health crisis, the staff could not have been more helpful and supportive. Everything was top notch, but I’ll just note that the beach attendant service in terms of being served food and drinks (because, to be clear, the guys setting up the chairs and umbrellas were awesome) left a lot to be desired; if you weren’t on the beach at the time service began, the attendant didn’t come around. We arrived on the beach around 1pm on multiple days and either didn’t see the server at all or saw them sitting and chatting with other employees. A little disappointing but overall doesn’t affect the rating of this fantastic hotel.
