The Inn At Camden Place

We loved our stay at the Inn & will definitely be back. Walking distance to everything, common areas with seating & coffee, and the best bedding for a very comfortable nights sleep.

The hotel is in a convenient location, and though lacking much architectural style, it has the possibility to be very charming on the exterior and in the lobby with a few design touches. But sadly, it was a very uncomfortable stay in so many ways. I guess it depends on the room you get - ours was more of a thrift store hodge podge of furniture than the website photos make it appear. The room was not inexpensive, so I guess I expected more and felt a little resentment about the value. (even knowing coastal Maine is very expensive in general) On the plus side, there was a nice coffee and water stand close to the room, a big TV, and the mattress and water pressure in the shower was decent. When I spoke to the gentleman on the telephone he said that the room was overlooking the river and that it is a great room. Maybe 30 years ago it WAS a great room - the carpets were old, stained and dirty. The furniture was old and not in an antique kind of way. The upholstery on the chairs was dirty. And the bed was an old spring mattress that made a lot of noise whenever you turned over. It got cold that night, but we kept feeling a draft. Sure enough, behind the shutters, all the windows were open, and their was a fabreze scent in the room, like someone did some heavy scent spraying. The best part was the price - $459. This was the first Inn I stayed at and I loved it! I will say it was a little rough checking in. I was checking in late and I called to inform the front desk. The first lady who helped me was extremely nice and accommodating. However, I had to call back because I was coming even later than I anticipated and this time a man answered and he was not as nice. He ended up hanging up on me because he was in the middle of helping another guest and seemed a little agitated to talk to me. A simple, "Can you please hold" would have went a LONG way. Had I not had that conversation with him, this place would be 5/5 all around. All of the OTHER staff were really nice and helpful. Even after hours, I was still able to have all of my needs met.
