The Highlands

Love the Highlands! The staff is wonderful and the skiing is a lot of fun! Sometimes wish the people who stayed there were a little more considerate of other guests but the hotel cannot really help that. Overall a great stay and a wonderful time! Getting really pricey for how outdated some of the room features are but still comfortable and convenient.

Have not done the hotel this review is for the ski resort. Beautiful views of Lake Michigan while skiing. We love the terrain when there is enough snow that all lifts are open. I love their all day ski school for the littles and priced right, which is a game changer when you have littles and then advanced older kids you want to ski with. Great for the family and different type runs including greens blues and blacks that all meet up at the same area on the bottom. The heated C6 chairlift is also a game changer when it's a very cold day.

Such an amazing experience! The staff were all incredible and were so genuinely interested in making our stay special for my girlfriends birthday. They even made our dog, Billie feel right at home!||We spent the days on the mountain bike course and our evenings soaking in the hot tub. I would recommend a fall stay at Highlands to anyone!

I had a great experience at Highlands Ski Resort overall. My girlfriend and I skied all day and had an awesome time, especially with the fresh powder after the recent snowstorm. The conditions were great, and the day itself was exactly what you hope for when you come out to ski. Unfortunately, the experience ended on a very disappointing note. We pulled up to Mary’s Lift at 4:14 p.m., with the lift scheduled to close at 4:15. A couple got on literally seconds before us, and as soon as they loaded, the lift operator put the closed sign up and refused to let us ride. Instead, we were told we needed to hike back—resulting in about a mile walk back to the base. The lift operator, Jim (who would not provide his last name), was dismissive and yelled at us rather than trying to help or show any

The ski hill and employees are nice, and the location is great, but this resort has some flaws that overall detract from the skiing experience. Getting from the parking lot to the ski hill is a complete hassle. This resort has ample room and roads to allow for a drop off point in front of the ticket office. Why they choose the layout they have and inconvenience every day skier coming to the mountain is a mystery. Additionally, the cafeteria food is subpar and grossly expensive. I would suggest the owners/managers do a go-n-see to the ski resort across the street to get some ideas, as that resort is knocking it out of the park for drop off and cafeteria
