The Henley Park Hotel

I was in town for a Volleyball tournament at the Convention Center, and had been driving home each night (to Northern VA) except for the last night because we had an early start on Monday. I kept looking at chain hotel prices online and kept getting discouraged with the pricing after all the fees, etc... I then found the Henley Park Hotel & it was amazing. I called and was able to reserve a room. The King room was beautiful. The front desk staff was very helpful. I had a drink at the bar and the service was great. It is a beautiful hotel, the price was perfect for 1 night ($150). I was able to get an Uber easily. It was a very easy walk to the convention center.

Horrible customer service!| |Due to a serious illness, I attempted to cancel my reservation a few hours past their 72-hour cancellation policy which I was surprised to learn of since most hotels require a 24-hour notice. Given the circumstances, I hoped the hotel would be willing to make a reasonable exception. I was informed that I would still be charged because I was outside the cancellation period. I called again the following morning requesting to speak with a reservations manager. A front desk worker assisted me and placed me on hold. Unfortunately, the General Manager did not speak with me directly. Instead, messages were relayed back and forth through the front desk worker. Positive: Spectacular service. Wonderful historic hotel. Such a wonderful change from the standard hotel. Sitting room down stairs was beautiful. Umbrellas when going to the conference center were a nice touch. Negative: Room was pretty basic, but the atmosphere was what made this place fun to stay.

We came to D.C. to visit the museums. During the check in process the hotel staffer explained everything to us. The entire contact was quick and thorough. We had a king superior room. The room isn’t large which was expected as this is a historical hotel. The bed was very comfortable and clean. It contains a large closet, coffee maker, a small table and chairs along with nightstands. The bathroom was nice with a large shower. There were two comfy bathrobes for our use and nice toiletries in the bathroom with fluffy fresh towels. The hotel is ideally situated and within walking distance to the museums, Capitol, White House, loads of restaurants and shopping. An unexpected delight. Boutique hotel. Expensive parking but it is balanced by reasonable room rates. Clean and really pleasant room. I wouldn’t go out alone at night there, but did not have any concerns during the day or Ubering at night. Highly recommend!
