The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Michigan Avenue Chicago

The concierge staff was amazing, specifically Ramon! In my opinion, concierge was the reason for the high rating due to their ability to provide extreme professionalism and the willingness to make your stay enjoyable. They went above and beyond, were very knowledgeable, and made up for minor things the hotel lacked. The rooms were nice, but not as extravagant and or luxurious as I assumed they be. The views from both our rooms were great, but definitely lacked smart TV capability as others have previously mentioned. The rooms were equivalent to an Embassy Suites but with nice wallpaper. I suppose I expected more, especially with the price point and upgrading the rooms to the Grand Deluxe King. Definitely disappointing. I stayed here with my daughter for a girls weekend. We had been wanting to try The Gwen for quite some time. However their room rates are always so expensive compared to where we usually stay. To say that we were unimpressed would be an understatement. It was a decent hotel but certainly not a luxury property. Great location, decent room but with very little light. We did really enjoy the bathroom. Beautiful shower, soaking tub, but when we arrived there was only one washcloth in the bathroom. ??? Front desk staff was less than friendly. Room service was quick, good, and the woman who delivered it was super sweet. We usually stay at another hotel near Navy Pier and we will definitely return to it versus staying at The Gwen again. Just not that impressed.

We have stayed at The Gwen Hotel three times recently, in December, January, and February, and each visit has been absolutely incredible. It is hands down our favorite hotel in Chicago. The property itself is stunning. The Art Deco design is elegant yet warm, the rooms are beautiful and impeccably maintained, and the overall atmosphere feels both luxurious and welcoming. The rooftop is truly one of the best in the city. The views, the ambiance, and the service up there are unmatched. What truly sets The Gwen apart, though, is the people. Our January stay was especially meaningful because we were celebrating my son’s birthday. When we walked into our room, it had been decorated for him, and they surprised him with his favorite dessert. It was thoughtful, personal, and so far beyond what

We were at the hotel during the NEW YEAR week. We really enjoyed our stay. My wife loved how close the hotel was to the downtown.. The decoration is charming and welcoming.The patio is nice,they have curling and people was enjoying it.Was to cold for us.we’ll be trying next time . Delicious food, the chorizo skillet was incredible.. All the staff were excellent, especially Meredith and Umar who attended us and were kind and friendly. The service was fast and Meredith always on the lookout serving more coffee. Our experience was phenomenal. We'll be back very soon.
